I was out bashing today and mid way through the second tank the truck became sluggish to run. It was running like a champ the first tank and a half. When it became sluggish, I checked temps and they were high (280-300 previuosly 240ish). They truck idles fine and will rev up to 30% throttle without moving. Higher revs and it stalls out. The drivetrain does not bind, all wheels spin freely from spur gear to tires. Is the clutch shot? :\
 
Probably i sort of had that a little while ago just take the engine out and clutch cell off and check it . Do you have a 3 shoe or 2 shoe clutch ?
 
Check the slipper clutch first it sounds to me that the nut backed off making it loose.
 
If the slipper was loose i would let the engine run at full revs and not cut out .
 
its the stock 2 shoe clutch with about 2 gallons on it. So its probably worn out anyway. I'm not sure what the life expectancy is for these. I'm going to check the LHS for a 3 shoe Integy.
 
Dont forget you will need the flywheel to go with it . Yer mine had 2 and a half gallons before it went . But depends on wat your doin with it i burn't out a clutch in 2 mins tryin to pull my mate in a wheelchair lol .
 
well I tore it down and found the shoes were worn down about 2 mm from new and one shoe was cracked at the pin where it pivots. I also tore down the mill and checked for any issues there, none found. The rod bearings seem good and the EZ start assy is good. The piston and sleeve also look good, no scoring or signs of poor detonation. At the time of this post I already have the 3 shoe clutch and will install later. :D
 
If you got it torn down at least do new bearings and reseal. Make sense,:whhooo:
 
I did completely tear it down with the initial intentions of resealing and inspections and it's a good thing I did. The conrod is split about halway down. it still spins well but will need replacing. this is the second conrod in about 3 gallons. This time I'm getting the Davis Diesel rod and might as well replace bearings too, their cheap enough while a got the mill torn down.
 
It sounds like a slipper clutch issue and a fuel pressure issue. If it won't rev up all the way it has a leak in the exhaust, fuel tank, lines etc, or it's just set too lean. Good thing you noticed the split rod lol.
