Truck will start to slow down, rev higher than it should for the speed it's going at...or just completely stop moving ;-)

+1 there Moto that just about covers it all right there. Keep a good eye on your spur gear they are a bit prone to melting if they overheat from a slipper that is glazed over from slipping too much.

roll the truck backwards and see if it rolls free. It should roll backwards freely and when you stop it the clutch bell and spur should continue to rotate. Yesterday i was having issues. I went to roll the truck backwards and it flipped over on its lid:)

It seems to me that the truck when at high speeds is starting to rev way higher than normal. Like when i take my finger off the throttle the truck is still revving pretty high like the revs down immediately come down like they used to when i let off the throttle. No melting.

I just rolled the truck backwards and the spur/clutch assembly continues to rotate a good bit. Also when I roll the truck forward the spur/clutch assembly spins some not near as much as when i move it backwards.

Is this a clutch starting to go bad or is the clutch fine and I have another problem?

Have u checked your slipper clutch to see if it is set too loose ??

Are the slipper pads good ?

How old is the truck ??

Are your Clutch shoes worn ?

And something i would ask myself would be, is the "primary clutch" (second gear clutch inside the transmission) good or is it worn ? is it oily or slipping.

What you describe sounds like something in the system is either slipping when in second gear or that something is worn giving the sypmtoms of slipping when in second gear and at high RPM.

I had the same thing until i changed out the primary clutch, slipper ring and pads and the clutch shoes on the flywheel. That is, until i blew my tranny and had to swap it for my spare.
