clutch spring problems

I have been having a hard time keeping the clutch springs staying together. I have pulled and assembled the clutch spring about 4 times now and keep finding the same problem. Any suggestions RC world? thanks.

How are you putting them back together? Are you crimping the ends so the coils are interlocked? If so, the only thing that would open it would be a break I would think.
