Hello,

I am needing help finding a soft (light) clutch spring for my T-maxx. I would even be open to new flywheel clutch combos if anyone has any advice.

Here is my situation, I have an O.S. FS-26S C 4-stroke that I am going to mount into my maxx. I already have all the cooling issues and gearing issues work out. I am just having a hard time finding a clutch system (or spring) that will let the clutch engage at lower rpms. I am wanting this since the 4-stroke does not turn the rpms of the 2 stroke.

Lets please keep the 4-stroke 2-stroke debate to a minimum. I am wanting to do the conversion because of a couple of reasons. 1.) I really dislike having to retune my 2.5 everytime the weather changes a little. 4 strokes hold a tune much better. 2.) I got a really good deal on the engine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You could stretch out a stock spring and then cut it to length. That should weaken it enough to your purposes.

Check out M2C Racing Email them and maybe they have a solution for you. You might be able to go with a 3 clutch system and get lighter springs - they have them down to .90. Though I don't know how that relates to a stock Maxx clutch spring.

I have thought about stretching it out I just do not want to weaken it to the point where it is gonna break right off the bat. Might just have to experiment. Appreciate the thoughts!!! If anyone else has any I am still open to ideas!!!:D

It's unlikely to break if you stretch it a bit. I ran a stretched spring in my first nitro when I didn't know what I was doing. The clutch would engage at idle but it never broke.

I guess it will just be trial and error to get it where it needs to be. Hopefully I will get it together soon and post some pics and maybe a video or two!:D

Also I was wondering what everyone thought about me running the Traxxas ROAR Chrome Pipe that I had on the 2.5r. I was going to bend the exhaust pipe to line up with the ROAR tuned pipe. Is there any reason that would not work? :ponder2:

Debate or not, I love how a thumper sounds in a land vehicle. I've spent many hours just looking on youtube for 4-cycle RC's. One the best/most consistent I've seen were some guy with a revo. He actually raced it and placed really well! Loud, smokey and more torque than you know what to do with!

All I can say is please post pics and start up a build thread, then I'm me the link so I can watch!

Also I was thinking about CB and Spur gearing ratios since the 4 stroke does not turn the rpms I was thinking about an 18 T CB and 48 T Spur. As best I can tell this should help the engine out a lot. Any thoughts?
