Well I was able to get my Revo 2.5 running today, but another problem that I had earlier came back.

Video:

When I go to start it up, the clutch will want to engage and the wheels will spin without me giving it any throttle. When I stop, it still wants to go and when it can't go, it stalls.

Any suggestions on why might be the problem? Would it be the slipper clutch?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I'd agree. Either fried clutch that's melted/deformed and dragging, broken clutch spring allowing shoes to swing out at really low RPM's or burned up CB bearings dragging.

The vid really helps us determine that it's not "too high of idle" or anything goofy. Seems like a pretty straightforward clutch issue.

Now is the time to go with a M2C clutch. It will perform 10X better and last a long time.

Got a link for that? Never heard of it.

When I had a revo, I moved the trans about 1/4" forward and found a crank extender then ran a 1/8th scale clutch/flywheel/CB. Never had an issue with the clutch again after that.

Thanks guys, helped me determine it was the clutch instead of the slipper clutch.

I should get it fixed sometime this week, hopefully.

i always used a Integy 3 shoe clutch that fit right on. but what Olds is saying that this is like the ultimate set up for your revo, it what i did after installing my OS.18-TM engine. it takes a little finessing with your Dremel tool but its a Great upgrade and outlasts a stock clutch by a great deal.

if not the stock set up will do you fine. just crack open that CB and see whats exactly broken and should be a few dollar fix. or for like 16-18 bucks you can get a three shoe aluminum clutch and flywheel with a different spring set up that is better IMO to the stock set up.

good luck with your revo. I've always loved the 2.5R model

EDIT: check out the inside of your CB and your CB bearings. sometimes with clutch problems, if you run them long enough they will fry the bearings or tear up the inside of the Clutch Bell (CB) so make sure everything is good with that before you get to the hobby shop

This clutch lasted me for gallons, no problems what so ever. It installs so easy you can slip the springs on with just your fingers.
Use the 1.0 springs.
The great thing about these clutches is the springs can never touch the clutchbell. I have never broken one or wore one out for that matter!

make sure u don't have any binding going on i had the same trouble with my revo but the reason i kept braking the spring on my clutch shoes it my rear diff was bad and i didn't know it and the stress was burning up my clutch and melting the spring so make sure u have nothing binding

and another easier way to change the clutch shoes wiht out pulling the motor u can pull the tranny and the throtle servo box and it is right there it is less time consuming to i do it that so i don't have to mess wiht the gear mess to much.

so when u replaced the clutch did it stop doing that and what part number did you get?

The MIP clutch also works very well and is also very durable. I've got about 4 race days on the MIP clutch with no signs of failure.
