It seems that there are some shreddings coming from my clutch bell. I have a savage x ss with stock gears. What could be my problem here?? Anyone? Thx

being brand new, you can either call or email the guys at hpi. Tell them whats going on, take a picture of it and email it to them. 99.9% of the time they will send you the new part in the mail for free.

When you say shreddings do you mean dust...slivers of metal and plastic? If you had a picture of what is is that is trobling you we might be able to help you out more. We might look and say it's nothing....or wow that sure sucks sorry for your loss...lol.

Here's some pictures hope they help thx!

Yup, I am going to say that your clutch on the engine is toast. You are going to have to pull the engine and the clutch bell to replace them. Since you have it all apart it would be a good time to upgrade to aluminum clutch shoes and you will go a lot longer times between changes.

Could this happen just from breaking it in?? I mean it's been run 3 times! Seems a little short lived to me don't you think? Could I have installed something wrong that would cause this? Thx

It just happens sometimes too...I have onlt seen that one other time (a very talented rock got in there and helped out) but it still lasted more than three runs. Yes VERY short lived I agree. I would send that picture to HPI and tell them about it. They might send you a new set. That sucks man. Really I think that may be the shortest life I have ever seen.

email support at HPI, they are awesome people. I had a problem with my carb on my savage xl, 4 days later i had a carb from hpi in the mailbox. just tell them how and what really happind, and they will usually go for it

How the hell did you get a rock in your clutch bell? Was it vented?:\

Yup you got it...a vented clutchbell, a talented rock to get in there and it destroyed the shoes. I was pretty amazed actually. I have seen the inner bearing crap out and do the same thing before too though.

Yep that's it! Thanks. One of the pieces of the clutch is starting to shred away I'll have to get some aluminum ones. Is there anything specific that could cause that to happen? Thanks for the help. My clutch bell is vented also. Nice!

I spoke with HPI and they are going to replace the clutch for me! Not a bad deal! Thanks for everything!

Too tight of mesh could cause a problem such as this. Make sure the mesh is as tight as possible, but still allows the gears to spin completely bind free. If there's any slop or grit to the bearings, replace them as well. Scuff the inside of the clutch bell with fine grit sand paper or emery cloth to remove any glazing/graphite.
