Okay guys I need some help in this department. I am trying to figure out a clutch bell setup for my race maxx build. I am running by my count a 58T spur gear it is a rrp not sure what style I am posting a pic. I want to run a 1/8th scale clutch due to it being a big block. I could really use the help on this one. I know all the savage clutch bells I have do not match up with the spur. Also what gear ratio do you guys recommend. Keep in mind I am running an LRP .30 on it.

Your going to need to swap over to the Revo spurs which are mod 1 like most 1/8th scale clutch bells.

yah I looked up the spur I have I think its a mod 8 spur gear. Could I just run a 1/10 scale alum clutch and flywheel for the time being. And are all revo spurs a direct mount on the maxx trans

Found this one on egay. It is almost the same one I have mounted right now just for a revo.View attachment 12748 It is a 38 tooth I think. what gearing clutch bell does everyone recommend want to stay close to stock maybe a little higher gear ratio.

38/15 will get you back close to stock but I would gear up to 17/38 if it were me. You have plenty of torque to run a 17 bell.
I would also run the plastic spur, no need for the steel.

Mod 1 is a larger diameter per tooth count than mod.8 but, the revo spurs will be slightly smaller than the maxx spurs. Make sure you have room for adjustment on the engine mount to compensate or you may have to run a 40T spur with larger clutch bell to make up the difference.

I have a new 36 tooth mod 1 revo spur and a new 18 thooth savage clutch bell would that be to high of gearing to pull off. I went a head and ordered the 38t spur and a new vented 17t clutch bell for an hpi savage. I am thinking of running an RRP savage lightened flywheel with an RRP alum clutch it all comes in a kit.

I’m running 18/36 with a Nova.28, with plenty of bottom end. You should be fine with it, always good to have a variety of bells to choose from.

Well I tried to set it up with the 36t spur gear, and the 18t clutch bell. There is to much distance between the spur and the clutch bell. And not enough adjustment in the engine mounts. My other prob is the crankshaft seems to long. it rubs the trans case I filed some of the trans case but can't get enough room. I may have to cut the crank down I really hate to attempt that. May try the black trans. I have one with RRP gears in it also.

what mount are you using??
i got the flm adjustable mount with the ice chassis which allows heaps of forwar and back movement, maybe you could try a different mount to get the clearance

Yah I have tried about every big block mount I own. The only way that I see I can use this trans with the LRP is to cut the crack down. I may look at getting me a O.S engine now and go the small block route not sure yet.

Problem solved I think

Okay guys check this crap out. I custom made a spur gear, to solve my engine clearance problem. I figured simple just bring the spur back instead of the engine up. It is a Revo spur and my RRP rear section with the slipper material. Had to cut off the little tabs on the revo spur where the slipper material mounted but I think it will work. here are some pics
