How long do they usually last running metal to metal? I was always accustom to running metal c/b with plastic gear. Just want a general life span on them. I did hear that usually the lower tooth c/bs dont last as long high tooth c/bs any truth to this?

Depends on the metal the bell is made out of. Whenever I use a steel spur, I always just buy an OFNA hardened bell. They hold up a long time be the spur plastic or steel.

I tried a non-hardened bell once, it lasted less than a tank of fuel in my t-maxx using a RC-Solutions MOD1 steel spur. I couldn't have done a better job removing the teeth off the bell if I had used an actual grinder!

I have a HPI vented racing bell on my savage its showing some wear after about 3 1/2 tanks. I had a cheap HPI heavy duty bell that lasted about 1 1/2 tanks before rolling over the teeth on it didnt really strip them just rolled them over like the metal was to soft

hope i dont have this problem when i put my 4.6 in for the spring/summer right now i got a .25 in it that i bought used to bash with for the winter months

I have a Robinson Racing Products metal racing clutch bell and spur in my savage with the 4.6 , it has about 10 tanks on it and still looks new. They are pretty hard.:third_place:

Just would like to ask, are you using the OFNA clutch bell on your savage or a tmaxx? Also are clutch bells interchangeable with other models like from a 1/8 monster truck to a 1/8 truggy? I just finished moving the F4.6 engine from my savage x to a 1/8 scale truggy that has a 50T metal center main gear, everything else seems to fit such as linkages, motor mount but I am having second thoughts of running it. Any input is surely appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. I've used them on both. My maxx had a BB conversion chassis at the time.

They are somewhat interchangeable, usually only require a bit different shimming from bell to bell and engine to engine.
