I took the collet, clutch, shims, ect. off of the m26ss in my mega baja and swapped them onto a mach 427 and put it into the baja, but now it won't stop eating up the bearings. the outer race seems to break up and puke out the balls. Any thoughts, anybody.

How much play is there when you have it all put together? By play, I mean on your CB. Can you move it in and out just a hair? If not, it's too tight. If you can move it quite a bit, it's too loose. This will cook bearings.

Also, poor gear mesh (too tight) will fry bearings as well.

end play is good. was sloppy until I put the proper collette on and thought this would fix it, but the problem is still there. gear mesh is good I'm thinking a bad set of bearings, maybe dry. but I did lube them.

That is strange. How are your clutch shoes? Really worn? Slipping? If they are worn or if they have a glaze on them, they will slip a lot. Especially with a heavy MT like the LST* trucks. When they slip, they generate a ridiculous amount of heat which boils all the lube out of the bearings, then the bearings fail.

Can you freely spin the CB when its on the motor, watch this video by squirrel it helped me... pay attention to clearances..

how much room should there be between the shoes and the clutch bell when the motor is off or at idle? there seems to be alot. maybe my clutch shoes are done.

have you pulled the clutch bell off yet to look at the clutch? if you watch the video he tells you how much play you should have....

thanks for the video link but It says the video is no longer available. I have had the clutch off its all clean not shinny or any thing that is why this seems to confuse me.

went straight to you tube and found the video. thanks that should help when I get some new bearings
