hi. I'm new here. iv just been getting back into rc stuff. i haven't had any rc vehicles for over 20 years and a lot has changed over that time. about 6 months ago i picked up a sledge and a slash. the body is getting quite worn out on the sledge. i am wanting to know if there are any conversion that will allow me to swap out the clipless body system on the sledge and return to a standard body post and clip system so i can run any body i want to. I'm pretty creative and good with fabrication and I'm sure i could make something myself. i would prefer to just buy a kit for this if it exists just to save some time. has anyone tried this or have any experience with such a thing?

You could try something like this. Technically it is for a Traxxas Maxx, but with some minor modification you may be able to get it to work.

Have you considered the idea of putting the sledge cage in an aftermarket body? I feel the amount of work to get body posts on it would equal out the work to convert a standard body to clipless. However you end up doing it, let us know. My sledge body is on its last leg as well 😂

cage swapping an aftermarket body briefly crossed my mind but i just assumed that the cage probably wont fit right in a different body

Worth a shot, the sledge body without a cage isn't much different than a normal body. I would think as long as the general shape and styling is somewhat similar it would all swap over with a little trimming and strategically placed holes. Seems easier than jerry rigging body posts onto the sledge which is already extremely heavy and unless done correctly would just break body posts id think. The clipless system IMO is much more sturdy/convenient and worth retaining if at all possible.

JConcepts makes an aftermarket body specifically for the sledge, although they recommend just using velcro to hold the body on and the few YouTubers I've seen running that body haven't had any issues going that direction.

i will likely just stick with the sledge body for now. there are not many options that i like for 1/8 scale bodies out there. if i do build a body mounting system i will make a new thread on how i did it.
