hello, my question is short and simple how much is clay per load? i know it would be different for different areas but take a guess at about how much per load and how big of a load? the reason I'm asking is because there is going to be a rc track in my backyard and i want it to be clay.

wow is that like a think where some one call you or what ever if they need to get rid of theres? or is it a place that always has clay to give away?
thanks for the link either way!

It looks like a place to both givers and takers of dirt. Cool site, I found a couple places near me that have fill dirt just waiting to be taken away for free.

You should probably mix it with something. If you have an outdoor track that is just clay, it will be like concrete when it dries out. If it's too wet it will be like muck. A good mixture of clay and top soil with saw dust will make for a nice track. Indoor tracks use mostly clay (around here anyway) cause it's pretty easy to maintain and keep a consistent surface. Check out the sites for CRCRC (www.crcrc.com) and Planet RC raceway (www.planetrcraceway.com) Planet track is off the hook traction. Our clubs outdoor track mixes in saw dust with the dirt and it's almost loamy, it's awesome at night.

I don't know Joe, but we will have to get atleast 2 loads before our big race in May to make sure the surface holds up all day.

The current surface we have is a mix between sand and clay. It has great traction when wet but as soon as it dries out the sand comes to the surface and it gets hard to drive. I don't mind though, most people can't drive on a low traction track around here so it makes it easier for me to keep up with the other drivers!

If you run on it after it dries out it should start to blue groove if you keep from watering it. Most ROAR and RC ProSeries events are not allowed to water once the event starts, blue groove = fun!!!!

The track I run at uses a mixture of clay, top soil and mulch (the fine, shredded stuff). The mulch helps retain a bit of moisture and slows the drying process throughout the day, though it does make it a bit loose.

Dirt Country????? Speaking of, did not see you on the entry list.
