what do you guys think of our costume skid plate? check out the pics in my gallery.

I made one like that except I extended it and made it cover the bumpers but that didnt work because when I hit something the treadplate would bend pretty easily. But not extending it all the way up to the bumpers is a great idea. How are you attaching it to your truck. Matt

we costume fit it to the truck by using 3/8 square aluminum rod we added two center supports on the bottom of the chasey. and used two more on the back side of the bumper as a clamp all the holes are drilled and tapped so that everything fits tight. it worked out pretty good. we had to drill four holes in the tpc but that is no big deal.

It definitely looks bomb-proof. How much does it weigh?

That had to be really heavy.

Yeah, i don't know the weight. Since it's a 21 conversion, i don't really care. I'm a basher, not a racer. It is heavy though. It's plate steel. I cut it out of a 3" by 3' piece of flat steel with a jig saw. It sure took awhile. I did it to help prevent chassis flex with the 21 torque.

The only thing i could have done to make it stronger would have been to mount everythingn to a 4"X4" oak beam.

I did it because no-one makes skid plates for a 21 conversion and i was tired of digging rocks, dirt and mud out of my rear diff.

Yeah it ways a little more than stock that is forsure but it did not hold back the performance at all my brother and I have both got savage 25's and after we got done with the skid plate we took them out and lined them up and he still kept up with me no problem. but the next weekend when we were racing he wrecked his new hummer body because of the weight increase. when he rolled it, it was like dropping a brick on the body and did considerable damage just about tore the body in half. it is for sale if anyone wants it 50 bucks shippid we have two avaialbe.

that is aluminum diamond plate no steal was used. that would really weigh to much.
