So I had the truck out today. Everything was fine and I gased it. It shot off but soon wouldnt go anywhere when I gave throttle. After inspecting( which didn't take long) I found out that it had eaten a spur.
Replaced.
Fired it back up and let her rip!
Spur gear trashed. Again.
So I brought the truck in and inspected and sure enough I have significant flex in the engine area. I run the Picco .26, Vantage CF 3.3 chassis w/ Qoncpet's brace but it just isn't enough. Looks like I wil break out the 7075 aluminum and fab me a brace that extends from engine area to forward area. I can't imagine how/where I accumulated so much flex...

Sounds like that engine has some serious power. I'm off to upgrade from my ancient 2.5r (Yes, I know, i'm missing out!) to a nice new OS .18, hopefully I don't have to do any upgrades.

Also, if your spur is tearing that much try loosening the slipper.

First off let me say luck SOB with a picco huh, id love to have one of those mills but one day lol. Ok but why can't you take the one that comes with the 3.3 and if you please for eye candy strip it and polish it and use it. If you didnt know the 3.3 comse with one of those braces. It might help a little.

The stock 3.3 brace isn't enough also considering the choice in future powerplants. The stock brace is stamped 6061-T6 and is localized only to the engine area. I want a brace that spans the engine area to the front to reinforce more uniformly the engine area. So here it is.

Of course it hasn't been polished yet but...

My lhs has that same chassis on their sponsored truck and they cracked it while running a stock 3.3. I'm not real convinced of their durability.

Nice FAB job.....I had a Picco .26 and it tore thru parts like nobodys business....good luck...

With where you have it bolted to the chassis, I don't see much of a way to make it actually stronger. Your plate looks nice, but without bolting the edge of it to the chassis somehow, it's still probably going to flex a lot.

Let us know how it holds up.

The flex I was experiencing was from front to back, not side to side. I drove it yesterday for almost 2 hours without hitch!
