I used the search button, did not find what i need,so sorry for the rookie question here

will a LOOSE header at the crank case cause you to chase a tune.
i keep chasing a lean condition, then idle is up then down and in the middle..temp gets uo into the 260 and up area... last temp was 272/
was cleaning truck off for the night and found header bolt almost backed out on one side and the other bolt was loose.........

Well, it sure won't help things any. It won't allow the pressure to go to the tank properly so you'd have to tune it rich to compensate which will then mess your idle up.

And it will also throw off your back pressure which will cause some of the fuel/air mix to escape on the intake cycle. Again, messing up your overall tune. You'll need to make sure the engine is appropriately sealed in order to get the most rock solid tune.

thanks guys, makes sense now. it would stay in tune for a pass or two then it would be off a little, I had a race on sat.
got my butt kicked on the side-by side MT style racing, but ran a 2.019 sec sixty foot drags
this was my first ever nitro race i really need to learn to drive with the speeds of a nitro,
all i can say is WOW, what a diff going from rock crawler to a nitro

But it was such a BLAST:D
