When I watch videos similar to this,

GSXR-1000 Passes a COP at 170 mph
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_FQZntrbwI"]GSXR-1000 Passes a COP at 170 mph - YouTube[/ame]

I think, gee I miss my bike, that thing was such a blast.
& I'm glad I sold my red and black Kawasaki Ninja 600R before it did me in...
But wow, you can't get that kind of extreme rush anywhere else.
Maybe BASE jumping...

The screen was a bit jittery, did he hit 200mph?

Man I'm gullible, I thought, well you know...

That vet must have awesome/new tires.

I've passed a bibb county sheriff with the speedo on my rc51 at 186 on the highway. I don even think he seen me go by. My buddies and i used to go out intentionally stirring up a chase on back roads outside of town. It was the best adrenaline rush back then. I also have given up the speed before it did me in. But by golly it was fun as hell while i was doing it!

Id try it where I live but all the cops know me :hehe: they would just wait at my house. And I dont have a bike that goes that fast lol.

That guy is a idiot lol. I had a GSXR 1000 and they are scary fast. I had mine up to 150 and that was fast enough.

Hi hbz2luze,
That second straight away he hit after the curve to change highway,
If you look closely at the vid, doesn't he exceed 200mph, just right near the end of filming?
I never ever checked my speedometer, when high flying.
I was always too afraid to take my eyes off the road, even for a millisecond!

I only had enough sack to get mine up to 168MPH before I shut it down.....feels like your floating just above the road heh.....Those were the good ol days and i miss them sometimes but mostly I dont care that much for speed anymore.....guess I'm just startin to get old lol.

Yeah the hyabusa is next on my list along with the aftermarket computer for it to unrestrict its full potential. Its around a 220mph or better bike without restrictions.

Not something I normally post about, but my sister, a mother of 3 little boys, was killed by a punk doing well over 100MPH on a 900cc bike.
If one of you does that and devastates an entire family, hopefully you'll also kill yourself in the process just like he did at 19 years old.

Over half of the fatal wrecks I have worked have been because of these idiots. Usually (fortunately) its only the rider who dies. Only worked 2 where it was another drivers fault.
I used to ride, wrecked twice. Both my fault. both over 100 mph and one well over 150.

Havent touched a bike since the second one. The first one I struck a small animal on the road..... wasn't pretty.

Second one was pushing between 170 and 180. Front wheel was just off the ground. Back wheel hit a dip coming off of a bridge. Bike got squirrley, I dumped it. Slid off the rd, into the grass median. Bike went off other side of rd, and wrapped around a tree. Broke my right arm and 2nd degree burns on my back from the metal heating up inside my armor. Walked away, and never looked back.

No wonder you make fun of "body donors." Been hit by a car on a bike. Concussion and a broken leg were my injuries. I was only doing 35 when I got hit, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

When I moved here from New York I brought 2 bikes with me, a 200 cc Twinstar and a 600 cc Shadow. Bought 2 Gold Wings shortly after I got here. I was ready for some serious country riding. Wrong. These people are nuts no matter what they drive. I saw so many car and bike wrecks that I never even registered them. Just sold them one by one.

Well the difference between seasoned riders and squids is the fact of not doing anything stupid and dangerous on the bikes in or around others on the road. I've got 20 years of seat time on sport bikes and had two accidents. Both at low speeds thank god. I've never done anything dumb enough to chance hurting another person on the road. Anytime i did get up to speeds over 100 even up to the 186 my speedo read the hwy was clear and also done on mountain roads with no driveways to chance a family backing out of. I endangered only myself. Although every year i was witness to idiots you speak of doing stupid crap in traffic and hauling ass down residential roads causing accidents hurting themselves and sometimes others because of it. Its one of the biggest reasons i chose to ride by myself or with a small group of trusted skilled riding friends only. I hate the fact that these punks now days who have never even ridden a dirt bike go out and buy the most powerful street bike on the market and first thing they do is go out and try to ride wheelies in traffic and race each other on public roads showing off and getting themselves and others killed. Sorry for any of your losses guys but there is a difference with experienced skilled riders and idiots on missiles.

Even if your a skilled rider and you run over 100 mph, your still an "idiot on a missile" doesn't matter how much experience you have.

I was going to just be quiet and avoid this thread, but I simply cannot ignore it any longer.

I've been riding for over 30 years, and I still ride street bikes every year when riding season comes around. Some of the responses in this thread really blow my mind, especially from some of the "experienced" riders.

There is simply no call for those kind of speeds on a public road, PERIOD. Go do track days if you need that kind of speed to get your fix. It's much cheaper than hospital stays, and funerals. You can ration it any you want to try and make it sound like you're being safe while riding with careless abandon, but there is no rational, logical argument you can come up with that makes it OK. I had a friend die this year in a crash, he was doing probably 50mph. I have another sitting in ICU at UT medical center as I type this who is very lucky to be alive, and will be crippled the rest of his life from a crash that was no fault of his own. Riding on the street is dangerous enough with artificially reducing your own odds.

++1 @HPIguy, on another note, Sorry about your Friends Randy, i rode for about 10 years and gave it up after my brother and 2 of my best friends were in very bad Crashes on the same section of road within 1/2 mile of each other, I'm moving back to a 4 seater sand rail, i feel alot safer on those and you get close to the same effect. Prayers will be sent out for your Friends.

Thanks Patrick, I appreciate it. To be honest, this past year is the first time I have ever even questioned riding on the street. I had a couple of close calls that again, were due to other people not paying attention. "It wasn't my fault" or "I didn't see him" doesn't matter much when you're dead. For now, I'm keeping my bike, but it's very possible I'll sell it off and buy some other toy in the future.
