Well today my good friend smaxxin came out of the cajun swamps and came up to help out with the track and do some bashing. Let me tell you, couldn't ask for a better more down to earth guy to bash with. We had a blast. I got to check out his crawler, and he ran the baja. Now I'm for sure going to build a crawler starting next week, and I'm thinking it wont be long before he gets a 5b. The track is coming along slowly but surely, but you can see those pics in the track thread that I have in the projects section. We were jumping the baja over a load of dirt that was piled up almost as high as I am tall. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming racing season.

I used to play hockey, A LOT. One of the only sports I was ever good at. I could definitely see moving up there for that more than moving up there to run my RC's. That's one good thing about Louisiana, we can run our nitros year around because it's hot from January to December. Our winter usually comes in about 4 week long spurts, broken up by warm spells. Only thing is, it rains a lot sometimes.

(Sniff) It's so beautiful! (Sniff-Sniff)
Man, I really got to get me a place out of town, with a decent spread.
That 5b is awesome!

Yeah, if you guys weren't driving and playing, you'd be finished with the track.
11,000 people are waiting, and you guys are having fun.

Nice bashing! Love the pics too. What camera did you use?

BTW: I noticed the tractor in the background. Is that yours or a rental? If it's yours, then you must be rich :D.

The big tractor with the the box blade behind it is mine. The lil tractor with the front end loader that's in my track pics, I borrowed. My tractor is several years old. I'm not rich, I just live on a 50 acre farm with horses, and you don't keep up that much land without some nice equipment.

TONS of fun. I don't really have any friends around here that are into RC's besides the guy that runs the hobby shop, and he's always working. It was nice to meet someone with the same interests and have fun. We will both be running stadium trucks with the same brushless setup and simialar LiPo batteries, so it's going to be a great racing season decided by the drivers, not the RC's. Only problem is, he's been driving and racing for a while, and although I'm head first into an RC addiction, I still only have 4 to 5 months of Driving experience.

man i did not even see this thread.those pics look awsome,i need a 5b just need to figure out how to hid 1000.00 dollars from the wife!

Great pics Charlie. How about an aerial view? They have that 5b at my lhs. Maybe Santa???? Can't wait for the RCNT party.!!!

I can't think of a better Christmas present. Honestly, I think the 5b would be perfect for you, nitronewb. You can charge the receiver battery, take it out, pull twice and start it (like a lawnmower, not a dinky nitro pull cord) run it for an hour on the same tank of fuel, and put it back on the shelf to be waiting ready to go for the next run. Once you tune it after running a tank or two through it, you never full with tuning really, and there's no after run procedure or glow plugs. I haven't gone through a spark plug yet. Also, when you crash it, it just keeps asking for more, without spending hundreds in hop ups to make it strong. We beat the living snot out of mine, one time we landed it on the roof from about 10 to 12 feet, of course not straight on the roof so I figured we destryed the shock towers or the roll cage or roof plate. It rooled back over on the wheels and I couldn't find one thing wrong with it.

If you get the 5b, make sure that you get the SS model. There's A LOT of improvements in it over the RTR version. I have the Savage X SS, and with that truck there is only a few improvements, but with the 5b there are TONS of hop ups compared to the SS, and the hard anodized orange is beautiful.

The fab shop is working on my drivers stand now, so once it is set up and the track is done I'll post some better aerial shots.

Actually, there are TONS of pics of both vehicles, I just didn't post nearly all of them. In fact, he was driving the baja a whole lot and I was crawling with the king a whole lot. Here's some more pics. I loved the way that you could crawl up to something and then stand it on the tailgate and balance or back down or do a backflip either one, so I did lots of flips and stuff. I was like a lil kid in a candy store, and I just got done ordering my own crawler about 5 minutes ago. I already have a Novak goat brushless setup waiting for it.
