charging 2 lipos at the same time?

so i have a turnigy 80w charger/balancer. was wondering if i could use the series connector to charge 2 batteries at the same time. say for a quick charge as you can't plug in 2 sets of balance leads. if i charge 2x2200mah 2s batteries as a single 4s at 4400mah 4.2A will that work the same?

4.7A would be the highest you could go on an 80W charger using series. So yes that could work. You have to connect up a certain way with the correct balance lead going to the correct main lead. I tried it once, sticking with parallel now.

you would need a serial balancer that would allow you to hook up the balance adapters on the packs you dont want to charge em in series without balancing them.

You would want to parallel charge them. 2 x 2s 2200 mah would been seen by your charger as 1 x 2s 4400 mah. Check out this video:

yeah you dont want to quick charge them, you'll want to balance charge them.

yup balance charge all the time, even though it takes a little longer but worth it.
Fast charge only charges to about 90% capacity, It doesn't use the constant voltage part of the charging at the end.
If your worried about cells not being read by the charger as it only see's a single 2s. Have a look at high capacity packs they are all paralleled in thier own little unit whether it be 2s2p,2s3p,2s4p. So everyone who has a high capacity pack, parallel charges without even knowing it.

my charger is 7a max, if I'm charging 4x 3s 2200mah packs so total of 9000mah, 9a can i charge it at 7a and it will charge the pack to 2200, or will it charge each pack to only 1750mah? I'm looking at getting a parraboard, so if that is the case i can only charge 3 at a time?

I had to think where you got the 1750 from. But no 7A will charge at 7A until it swaps over to constant voltage then carry on charging until each pack is full at 2200.
7A is less than 1C for 4x2200, thats 8.8A will just take longer to charge which isn't a bad thing.
Many people parallel charge without even know that they are doing it.
Don't believe me look at your packs, higher than 4000mah. chances are it's a #S 2P pack or maybe even higher.

Ok, so will that be the same deal with charging 2x 4s. 5000mah packs? How does it know to charge till it hits the mah on the battery? Is it just a resistance thing?

as long as the cell counts the same the mah can be varied if you want say 2s 2200 + 2s 5000 + 2s 6200 this would equal 2s 13400mah.
As opposed to series charging where mah has to be same, but cell count can be different.

I jujst noticed something about that video... I have that same exact parallel board and I have a PL6 charger. My charger wouldnt work with that board. I had to buy FMAs $70 parallel board to get it to work. I wonder what he know that I dont or if he was just using that for demo purposes?
