its a t maxx 2.5, ok so spur gear went the other day, ordered one just waiting for it to arrive, having never changed one I'm just after any tips really that people might have on changing them, watched a few videos on you tube of people changing them so got a fair understanding of how to do it.

any help greatly appriciated,

james

Hold the front end of the shaft with a small allen through the hole.
Remove the nylock nut that has the spring behind it.
Take off the gear and push out the red pegs, then put them in the new gear.
Push out the bushing in the center of the gear and put that in the new gear.

Be sure you paid attention to the discs in front of and behind the gear. They can go out of line and cause some wobble if they're not lined up properly when you put it back together. There is also a small pin behind the inside disc, don't lose it.

thanks, i thought the clutch was going at first as it was just reving up when i was attempting to give it full throttle, then stopped moving all together, took the shell of and seen the gear was bent to say the least! so hoping its just that,.! thanks for the help

If the spur looks bent on the slipper clutch you may have melted the center of the gear by running the slipper too loose.

Once you remove the spur if the center looks to be melted you will need new friction pegs as well as a new spur.

The 2.5 tranny does not have a hole in the shaft to aid in removal of the slipper nut. Just hold the gear or the shaft sticking out the front of the transmission.
There is also no pin behind the stock 2.5 slipper to worry about loosing :p:

looking at it now it looks like its off centre more than 'bent' as if the gear has shifted some how off centre? ill try posting a vid if i can

Close enough!;)

i would just get slipper pegs while you in there like 3.99 or 4.99 i think when you get it back together the spur might look bent a little but once you run it around it will strightin out long as the mesh is good. i just changed mine and it looked bent but the guys on here told me not to worry lol and its going awesome.

Yeah new one come this morning, was bout £3.50 ish delivered! Was a bit fiddly as I'd never done one before, took it out earlier around the garden tho and it works and goes alot better than when I had it so done the job, thanks everyone
