I just picked up a GP2 last week and the new .18 is sweet! I have about 10 tanks through it and just starting to lean it out, man this thing is tight!
Car handles way better than I thought it would. I bought the prebuilt one , I had a Hitec 645 and 525MG's I put in it. 189.99 for a car w/engine minus servos and RX, you can't go wrong.
I checked to see what one of my .12's I could put in for spec ROAR rules, looks like any long shaft .12 or .15 or .18 will fit just fine.
I have a brand new in the box .12 CV from 10 years ago I am going to put in it, guess I will use a starter box. may have to put a bigger flywheel on it, or use other mounts, looks like xxx-nt mounts flipped would work fine.
I do wish they made a set of engine mounts for non-pull-start so I could set the engine lower. Oh well, If nothing else some chunks of bar stock and a few holes drilled and tapped will get it on.
I have the alum bulkheads and the graphite top deck sitting here to put in!!! I can't stop driving long enough to get them in.
On my seventh tank I spun and hit a curb and broke the a-arm mount on the rear bulkhead, I did not want to wait for the parts, so I thought I would see about gluing it back together so I could run till I got the new bulkhead.
I knew it never worked before gluing any R/C car part with CA but I have been using this new
IC 2000 Tire CA glue from BSI(Bob Smith Industries) It has rubber in it and it is black. I have had great success using to glue the carbon frame on my Heli, so I tried some on the broken bulkhead and it worked really well. I remounted the a-arm and tugged and tugged, I could not break the part again, I have run it a few times since and still holding strong. I know Duratrax replaces these parts free in the first year of ownership and I do have the alum upgrade part but this glue is really cool I had to share.
If you want to glue your tires on right, esp. for high speed stuff and be able to repair parts at the track when you don't have any, get this glue, it even does well gluing metal to plastic and carbon!
Well enough about the wonder glue, the GP2 is a great car!
R/C Madman,
What would you have to cut to fit the O.S Hyper in?
Every .12 I have and a Traxxas .15 would fit fine, just sat high if it wasn't a PS. Just wondering.
BTW FYI, check out the Purple or blue vented flywheel DTX makes for the .18 on the Evader Nitro truck, it is the same diameter as the stock GP2 one. The GP2 uses a washer then the flywheel and the Evader uses a collet and a tapered back to the flywheel, looks like if you take the spacer off of the GP2 and use the collet set up you could put a vented flywheel on it. I will try it next week, let you know. Also there are some pretty cool heads(no pun intended) from Golden Horizons and DTX as well as one from O.S.
