RC Driving Style
I'm new here but I've been driving rc cars all my life but this is my first year driving a nitro powered rc. Can anyone answer my question. can the new O.S. .18 Cv-Rx w/11j Rotary carb with pull start fit in my duratrax sfgp because I'm tired of the velocity .15.

I tried to fit a O.S Hyper .15 in my SFGP but, could not get it to fit without moding the engine by cutting and grinding. I still have not got back to that project yet!LOL

Technically, an .18 size engine is still a smallblock. Any R/C that comes with a smallblock sould be able to put an .18 in it. I have an XTM .18 in my RS4 which is a smallblock onroad car. You might need to buy a few things but I think it will fit. But, I don't have an SFGP so I don't know for sure.

For now Ill try to stick with the stock engine. but when i find out if i can get the engine ill get it.

although my car goes faster than it should i still want to get the engine. my engine is running pretty rich so i think itll last long

My sfgp is in pretty good condition. I've also put some stuff on it.I've got a fuel filter, Hpi Mesh Chrome Wheels, And Hpi X-Pattern Belted Raidials, also a foam bumper from duratrax. I'm thinkin of geting some Graphite Shock Towers And a Graphite Radio tray all from Duratrax. And lets not forget the O.S. CV-RX .18. I think that engine will really tune things up a bit and also the speed and acceleration. So MADMAN what do you have on your sfgp and how long have you been driving it. Do you think its a good product from DuraTrax.

I have had it for about 2 years and it has a few new things on it. I have the foam bumper, new sway bars, belts, clutch and a crap load of wheels and tires for it. I have not ran it in a long time since I still have not put an engine back on it yet. The stock engine was shot when I got it so I only ran for a few weeks before I started to rebiuld it. I have a O.S Hyper and a O.S. CVR-X that I was going to try on it but. I have not found a motor mount that will make it work. I have a ton of mounts from other kits and none of them work. I need one the same height as the stock one but, adjustable so the clutch bell will mesh with the spur gear.

Hopefuly ill be able to fit the os engine in the car so when the time comes i can beat my friends Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec and show him whos boss. only because he has been showing off. I'm only 14 and hes like 11 or 12 and we've both been driving rc cars for almost our entire life I'm way better than him its just that he has an advantage of having that 4-tec.Do you Have any rivals Madman.

You know the new StreetForce GP2 has an DTX .18 made by O.S. in it. Maybe that will fit or at least all you need is the engine and the mount from the GP2?

the .18 should fit without a problem. You may have to modify your motor mounts, but its swapping a small block for a small block.

I just picked up a GP2 last week and the new .18 is sweet! I have about 10 tanks through it and just starting to lean it out, man this thing is tight!
Car handles way better than I thought it would. I bought the prebuilt one , I had a Hitec 645 and 525MG's I put in it. 189.99 for a car w/engine minus servos and RX, you can't go wrong.
I checked to see what one of my .12's I could put in for spec ROAR rules, looks like any long shaft .12 or .15 or .18 will fit just fine.
I have a brand new in the box .12 CV from 10 years ago I am going to put in it, guess I will use a starter box. may have to put a bigger flywheel on it, or use other mounts, looks like xxx-nt mounts flipped would work fine.
I do wish they made a set of engine mounts for non-pull-start so I could set the engine lower. Oh well, If nothing else some chunks of bar stock and a few holes drilled and tapped will get it on.
I have the alum bulkheads and the graphite top deck sitting here to put in!!! I can't stop driving long enough to get them in.

On my seventh tank I spun and hit a curb and broke the a-arm mount on the rear bulkhead, I did not want to wait for the parts, so I thought I would see about gluing it back together so I could run till I got the new bulkhead.
I knew it never worked before gluing any R/C car part with CA but I have been using this new IC 2000 Tire CA glue from BSI(Bob Smith Industries) It has rubber in it and it is black. I have had great success using to glue the carbon frame on my Heli, so I tried some on the broken bulkhead and it worked really well. I remounted the a-arm and tugged and tugged, I could not break the part again, I have run it a few times since and still holding strong. I know Duratrax replaces these parts free in the first year of ownership and I do have the alum upgrade part but this glue is really cool I had to share.
If you want to glue your tires on right, esp. for high speed stuff and be able to repair parts at the track when you don't have any, get this glue, it even does well gluing metal to plastic and carbon!

Well enough about the wonder glue, the GP2 is a great car!

R/C Madman,
What would you have to cut to fit the O.S Hyper in?
Every .12 I have and a Traxxas .15 would fit fine, just sat high if it wasn't a PS. Just wondering.

BTW FYI, check out the Purple or blue vented flywheel DTX makes for the .18 on the Evader Nitro truck, it is the same diameter as the stock GP2 one. The GP2 uses a washer then the flywheel and the Evader uses a collet and a tapered back to the flywheel, looks like if you take the spacer off of the GP2 and use the collet set up you could put a vented flywheel on it. I will try it next week, let you know. Also there are some pretty cool heads(no pun intended) from Golden Horizons and DTX as well as one from O.S.
