A center diff keeps all 4 on the ground during excelleration. Prevent wheelies basically. Its good if your racing because you do the rear break kit with it, and it gives you more tuneability for front and rear breaking seperatly.

I belive so I dont run one yet because I like the feel of just the FOC but I'm pretty shure that it still has the 2nd gear in it.

Yeah it still has the 2nd gear. I finally hit it after getting too lean. I guess I still have some adjusting to do... Mine will not wheelie if it wanted to. (with the center diff., that is)

the center diff is a must if you love to floor it from a dead stop and not flip. all you loose is your reverse gears and the rest of the things that make that work (mini servo opti drive ect..) less weight. if you plan on racing it is a good investment and verry worth it! along with the rear brake kit.

It just handles better, and has better traction.

I don't race, but I benefit from it just bashing.

Center diff and rear brakes are a must I say...

I stripped reverse about a week after I got mine. Instead of doing the FOC I installed the Center Diff and Rear Brake upgrade. Definitely have more control over the beast. I'm a basher not a racer and It makes the beast easier to stop.
