I have a savage 25 that i have added a Wasp .26 to. With the last couple of spur gears that i have gone through, i noticed the same problem occuring. The mesh between the cb/sg is off.

When the mesh is just right in one spot at others it is too tight. Then when you fix it, it is too loose at other spots. My first guess would be that the shaft comming out of the trans is bent, and my second guess would be that my crank is bent. But individualy they seem to spin true.

Here's the kicker, the spot where the binding happenes is inconsistant with either the revolution of the spur gear nor the clutch bell... go figure.

I have since added both a new spur gear and new clutch bell, and the problem continues. To fix the issue i have a compromised mesh that is both slightly tight and slightly loose at the same time, if that makes sense. Though this is a solution to a problem it does not seem to be the correct one. Has anyone else had this problem. Please Help.

My guess would also be the shaft coming out of the transmission. Do you still have your S25 engine? If you do, try reinstalling that and see if the problem continues.

Does it happen only when the engine is running or all the time? If it is all the time I would say its the shaft to the tranny. My reason is that the crank doesn't spin when the engine is off. the CB just rides on the crankshaft at whatever point it is at and spins.

Good point robriguez, It does it all the time. So there is a good chance it is the Shaft comming out of the tranny. Do those bend often? How hard are they to change?

there usually is a small difference in tightness when the spur goes around what you should do is adjust it at the tighest spot and see how that works and to make sure the gear mesh is right run a piece of plastic from a parts bag through the gears. Also make sure that your engine is not cocked at a slight angle.
