I am in the process of making a carbon fiber body for my Savage X. Anyone interested in pictures of the process let me know. Also depending on how it goes and what everyone thinks of the finished product you may be able to purchase these in the future.

Think about it...this body will be virtually indestructible!!!

It should look awesome!
But the main function of a body is to absorb the shock and protect the parts.

Being CF I don't think it will flex(absorb shock) but it should look really cool!!
Let us know how it goes!

I'd love to see some pics of the build and how you laminate it. I think Scooby is right though Carbon is strong but brittle. If you haven't purchased the cloth yet I would strongly suggest looking into an aramid / carbon mix weave. This is a cloth that has carbon going one direction and the 90 degree axis is an aramid (kevlar - twaron etc) These are far superior for impact resistance and crush strength.
Here is a link for carbon kevlar cloth and the kevlar has been dyed blue, pretty gucci to have the blue and carbon together imo. :2cents:

Being a carbon fiber lover I'd love to see a completely CF body. But it would look like crap after the first time it slides on it's roof. And repeated crashes would eventually wear down the body. I'd buy one to put on a shelf queen if the final product looked like an actual truck or SUV.

Carbon fiberbody on basher would be real cool if you could stay off your lid completely.

I am sure if you are as good as a driver as you say, you will have a pretty sweet looking ride. Wait...you didn't say anything about driving....

LOL Post some pics up please. Interesting concept and if you can make it look like a another truck or SUV lid...you may have something.

I bet it would look sweet as hell. I'd just be concerned that after one bad landing you'd have a big pile of very expensive toothpicks

that would be awsome..i wonder what it would look like with maybe the Monster energy drink logo on it. show body..

HaHa, ya well I'm hoping this thing will be tough as hell b/c the plastic one just flaked away.
A buddy of mine has a hockey "stick fix" business where he fixes broken one-piece graphite hockey sticks so I am getting this done for free.

We started it tonight and quickly found out it was very difficult to cover the existing Savage GT-2 body with graphite. Its very hard to get it to follow the curves of the body, so we just fixed what was really broke on the body so far. This is a prototype.
Pics coming soon.

The guy who did this for me painted the damn, body with some black paint, oh well, it should hold until I get something that looks a little better.
