hey guys, i was just kinda thinkin would a carbon fiber chassis be any stronger or any better than an regluar one? cause if so it wouldnt be that hard to go out and find some a sheet of carbonfiber, cut it out and make it exactly like the one u run. it was just a thought but it would look crazy.

A Carbon Fiber chassis would be sweeeeeet! I would think it would be less durable than the stock aluminum chassis. But if someone had to make a new chassis , It would be awsome to see a Supermaxx chassis w/ White or Red Carbon Fiber shield on the top!! Cya man

well i was thinking of making it the actual chassis not just the shield

doesn't hurt to try it... Go for it... I dont know where to look for graphite sheet tho.. hmm... Good luck. Later dude

ya i am trying to find someplace that sells it for a reasonable price.

saw one on ebay. you can buy it with holes pre drilled, or a tmaxx blank so you can drill your own

It was late last night I was browsing through the general search of "t maxx" parts. If I run across it again I will let you know.

hey i found it. i asked the guy if he would make me one up for the xtm .21 chassis

Hey Bryan,

Yeah a Carbon fiber chassis would be sweet until you get in a descent wreck and then it's probably done. It will take off some weight and if it's a high quality weave carbon fiber it should hold up to the torque of a big bore. I've seen Carbon Fiber chassis for the standard chassis size but none for a big bore conversion. I was going to build a drag race maxx with a Carbon fiber or custom carbon fiber chassis but I've changed my mind.

I would serously reco agianst one for you Bryan. I've bent the stock Maxx chassis into a perfect V from a wreck and the stock alluminum chassis is going to be ALLOT stronger overall then carbon fiber. For racers with deep pockets it would be a good option but it's definitley not for bashers.

Peace
Ryan

WHaddup Gutterboy,

Simply put NO it woudn't be stronger. THe quality and strength of Carbon Fiber can actually vary greately. It's a woven fiber and like sheets for you bed, the higher count the better. Even if you had the best quality carbon fiber on the planet it wouldn't be as strong for a chassis application as a strong alluminum like 7075 or Titanium. Yes, Carbon fiber would "give" more but the chassis application isn't suppose to give. You want your chassis like your lower brassis to be as strong and stiff as possible to handle the power and torque of the engine and hold up to nasty possible accidents.

For a racer that wants to shed as much weight as possible a Carbon Fiber chassis may be the way to go. For bashing and genral driving it's just not worth the expense.

I did a thread a while back about carbon fiber chassis (I'll try to find it). Upon seriously researching Carbon Fiber applications I realized that building a custom Carbon Fiber chassis for my drag race Maxx would require way more money then I'm willing to spend. It also woudn't be that much lighter then an alluminum or Titanium chassis for my application.

SuperMaxx - DIdn't I just read a thread you started not long ago about you possibly selling your Maxx?? You said something to the effect of "you got in a wreck and the matinence cost was getting reidulosu"? Replacing Carbon fiber chassis would be plenty expensive my friend.

Peace

yo 30%, thankz for the help. yes i did make a thread earlier saying that i MIGHT get ride of it. but since then i have replaced the parts and the beast works perfect. i am not quite sure if the engine is going out tho i have to take it apart sometime and see what it is like.

this whole carbonfiber chassis thing would be really kool, but it was just a thought. and i was thinking the same as u, if u had a minor crash it would probably be dead. and i dont quite think that they would be able to take the force of the big block tho.
