RC Driving Style
I just removed the stock S-25 engine to clean it up a bit. When I did I noticed that when the carb is fully closed it doesn't appear that the spring is even touching the linkage point. So if the spring isn't pulling it fully closed is there any need for it? I have redone the throttle linkage setup and adjusted it so that neutral servo position has the slide closed. Is this why some people move that spring to pull on the pivot bracket instead of being on the carb itself?
 
mines the same way, it hasnt presented a problem so I havnt worried about it?
 
When your carb closes "all the way" there should still be about a 1-2mm gap. This is what lets the engine idle. If the spring leaves the carb all the way open or something larger than the appropriate idle setting, then you have a problem.

Purpose of said spring is to bring the truck to idle if your throttle servo goes ape. In most cases, the truck will stall after a bit at idle.
 
yeah I have the same problem, the spring just hangs loosely when the carb is at Idle and the spring does nothing to retract the servo from WOT...
 
I took the dam spring thing off !! Didn't do a dam thing but slow the servo down anyway. No trouble with that so far, live on the edge man lol.
 
the spring is for if you have a weak servo.... or lost radio transmission.. it's a fail safe trick itself... i personally don't use it anymore cause I have a high torque digital servo on my JR XS3.. do the HPI tip..
