i trashed the carb on my 2.5R, and i was about to buy a new carb from tower, a stock 2.5 carb.

question though, can i buy an afermarket carb? something that holds a tune better, maybe? they don't seem too complicated, but i was just wondering if it would be worth it to put something else on my 2.5R.

thanks~

I have not tried but I have heard from many people that the OS. 18tm carb fits perfect, and its easyer to tune than the stocker, pluse it holds its tune really well.

If you've trashed the carb, it might be a wise idea to upgrade the motor in total. A new carb is on the average $50+. You can be a good part of the way towards a motor with a ton more power, like the 18TM by OS.

Wow, huh I'm going to take a gander at that right now because that redickulus. I bought a new os.18 form there for 200. Id rather just get the whole mill lol.

Ok I just looked and I just about craped my pants when I saw this one,http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHLV8&P=3. Thats like the same price of the 3.3. Holy crap!

i have read alot of people here use .18TM and claim they are very fast but surley for off-roading they can't be good at all. I read on the o.s .18tm link on this thread that it can go in a revo WTF?
i race .21's and .26's
surley you couldn't put a .18 in a revo, thats crazy

uhhhh. the revo comes with a .15 in it. the 18TM is a beast according to everyone on this forum. the TZ (also .18) is even beastlier.

personally, when i do upgrade my engine i will be going with a RB concepts TM323 (.23) but thats just because i like RB, and that orange color they have going on is sweet, /shrug.

The O.S. is a beast. I have a brand new one siting in a box waiting to be droped in but just waiting on parts. I have driven my buddies and its way quicker than a 2.5 and has more low end than the 3.3.

I ran a 18TM in my revo. With an after market pipe, the engine is an animal. The mid-range and top end power was brutal. It was a bit weak on the low end, but it still ran circles around the 2.5R.

What are the 21's and 26's in? Are they in revo's or other trucks?

This is the carb for the 18TM: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHKW5&P=Z

At $85, it isn't really worth it to try and make a 2.5R tune better. You'd be better off spending the extra $70 and get a whole 18TM.

so would it be faster than a .21 or .26?

i have seen lots of revo's at my track new and old and i have never ever seen one with an engine lower than .23

maybe it comes with a .21 here in england not sure

naw man. it comes with the 2.5R from traxxas. it is a .15 engine (unfortunately). most people who race though, upgrade the engine for sure. at the same time though, the TM.18 is a very popular choice (according to this forum).

/shrug.

the more power the better though, eh? no, i'm not Canadian.

anyway, this topic is way off in the weeds. i bought the traxxas carb, and my engine is all back together. thanks for the advice guys.
