I have a 2.5r. I noticed the carb cap on the side of the carb is stripped should i
Replace it or glue it in place. What purpose do the caps serve? Any help is
Appreciated

The large cap/plug horizontal with the slide valve closes the opening for the lsn needle seat. The seat is threaded into the carb body through the opening that the plug covers.
The smaller plug is used for changing the angle/position of the HSN assembly.

You can try to glue the cap/plug in place and if not stripped too bad it works most of the time. Just don’t over do it with the glue/sealant, if you get too much inside you will stop up the fuel passage.
