Still new

So I got some plastic shock inserts with my TMaxx... any suggestions on what to do with them/where to place them? I'm so new to nitro it's redundent...

I'm sorry. I've been looking through the forum for answers to my questions but may have missed.

My other question is - I've rinsed out my fuel tank with warm water, blew on the pressure line to remove all excess fluid... Since I couldn't start it in the first place, I put all the fuel I didn't use in a jar... should I use this "contaminated" or old fuel to rinse out the fuel tank before putting in fresh fuel? I can still see water droplets in the tank. Anyone who has suggestions is welcome... I can't wait to finally start my truck... BOO on easy starter2... should have thought of blowing blue wire. I will never use the blue wire and my truck still hasn't started.

Love this forum.

You can just let it dry or use a blow drier but use cool air as the hot air can creat condensation

unscrew the glow plug from the engine. Hook up your glow ignitor, or the E-z start blue wire. See if the plug glows.

You cannot see the glow plug glow if it is in the engine. If you look at the bottom of a glow plug, you will see a tiny little wire, kind of what's like in a toaster. That's what is supposed to be glowing, nothing else.

If I wer you I would reset the needles back to factory, get a ne glow plug, test it for glow, and then try to start it.

As for fuel, just dump what you hgave in there. When you go to re-fill it put a little in rinse it around and dump it out. the re-fill..

just stick some thing under your fuel tank lid to keep it open intill it drys out..
You don't have to rinse it out with water just dump out the fuel and your good..if your going to let the engine sit pull out the glow plug and put a few drops of aro in there and turn it over a few times..to test your glow plug take it out hook it to the blue wire and ground the plug to the top of the engine and press the button..the little coil should glow..OH and you glow plug igniter is on its way you should have it in a few days

Maxx Started!

So my maxx does start, I did the hairdryer and all that crap, and it started (I had to borrow a glow plug driver). It seems to idle pretty high and I was seeing no blue smoke so I richened the fuel mixture. After letting it idle through a couple of tanks, as my LHS suggested I do because of the climate here, I decided to start to give it some gas and follow the break in procedure. It seems to rev really high before the clutch grabs, and I don't want to wreck my new toy. Is this normal? If not what should I do?

You might want to open the idle abit 1-1.5 mm is what it should be at .Check the clutch shoes for glazing if their is it could cause the engine to not engage until a high RPM.if their is glazing use some fine grit sand paper or Scotch Brite to remove the glazing

Thanks to Zandor, I got my max started and am breaking it in right away. I emailed Traxxas because my clutch wasn't grabbing, they told me I was running too rich, so I leaned it out, and presto, I'm drivin' my truck

Glow ignitor works beautifully, electric start turns the motor well, and it starts all the time so far... I think it was around 1 degree celsius today, that's like somewhere around 35 degrees f .

Thank you for the Card and the sticker, it's across the bottom of my laptop now :)

I think I wanna get right into waterproofing my maxx, I'll post more in the new year. Thanks to everyone who helped me out!

OH no My wife sent you a christmas card !!! DIdn't she LMFAO....

Have you tried push starting it?

I don't know what you mean, but I'm excited to find out!!

This thing goes so freakin' fast... I was breaking it in in a parkade... and I lost control, and it flew off the level I was on down to the next one... 8 or 9 feet. I was devistated. I ran down the stairs to find my maxx, unscratched, idleing away. :):):) I found out after about 8 tanks that the batteries in the truck will run out, and if you're accelerating, you are screwed... I watched the maxx gain speed as it narrowly missed several support posts and eventuallly found a wall at an angle... I expected broken A arms, but to my surprise, all was good, except some damamge to the bumper. Being a rookie, I lifted the truck, tested the controls, they worked fine, and I gave it another run... All was good, then once again, no control, wot, this time straight into the wall. STILL no damage to the bumper besides a loss of paint. However, 2 out of 4 screws holding the bumper snapped. So I need some new screws I guess, and that's it. I'm looking ot get some aluminum soon. ANyway, I babble. PUSH START... what is it?

LOL it was a joke. Everyone had already given you some great suggestions. You can't push start a T-Maxx

Thanks

You might want to invest in some sort of fail safe and or throttle return spring This will prevent a run away truck if your T-Maxx stops communicating with your radio.

Yeah, my T-Maxx wont start right now... its not that cold here, but I do live in norther US. it will start to sound good but than it will cut out and you will just hear the electric motor running ... i don't know what is going on... I have the battery charged and everything. Please tell me what i am doing wrong!

AHHH! I broke a rear bulkhead again!!! I hate it when that happens... third time in the last 2 months. i think i should switch to aluminum... if i had money$$. and i have a race in a week.
