Hey Jim, glad to hear that things went well with your surgery!! 3 months must seem like forever when you're waiting to walk again, but hopefully it'll be over before you know it and you'll be up chasing your Revo all over the place. Good luck with the recovery process and let us know how you're doing along the way.

+1 except I don't hope your chasing Revo all over cause when you have to go to your Revo its never good. The Revo is suppose to come to you. Anyway Glad to hear everything went well.

Jim, I'm really glad to hear it's over and all went well. I get myself sliced open on Thursday, and it's not something to look forward to.

Whoa Rolex! What's up with you? Is this major surgery? What are you going in for? I hope all will go well and that you'll be back up and running before you know it! Let us know how things go for your when you can and best of luck to you man!!!!!

Got my engine back from traxxas. They replaced the piston head and sleeve again as well as the connecting rod. It was all free which is nice but I kind of feel like the problem is in the engine block rather than with the removable components of the engine. Either way, it was free. I put it back in the truck today and will try getting out to break it in this week sometime and let you guys know how it's running. I quickly started it up after putting it back in and it sounded good, no problem turning it over. I also made a mark on the fly wheel for BDC to put it there after I run it each time from now on.

How you doing Rolex?!?!?!

you could of hit the throtle servo on the controler it doesent take much to throw it off

i don't really understand what this last response means or how it pertains to the past problems with my engine....?

Hey Jim, good to hear they repaired it for you. I've heard nothing but good things about Traxxas customer service. Never had to use them myself **knocks on wood**.

But I'm especially glad to hear that you felt up to getting it mounted and at least running.

yeah, my brother-in-law and i put it back together and started it up in the back yard real quick just to make sure it would start. what do you think the response above from qaart means? i'm not sure what he's talking about...

i was just saying if you couldent get to idle right before you found out what was wrung on the controler there is brake and throtle control it could been turned up or down to much

I think he was reading the whole thread and replying to an earlier problem you had. No worries now though, it's like a brand new engine. :D
Hopefully those rouge pieces of metal are long gone and you can get back to 'playing', like every man should.
I for one, would be interested in hearing how the break-in goes and if you have an additional issues.

I'll let you know how it goes MrClean. I've got a 3.3 and a leg to break in now. Lots going on in the next month or so...

Hey guys, I got out in front of our house for a little while today and started breaking in the rebuilt engine again. Things seem to be going alright so far. It ran through two tanks pretty well. It's rich but I'll leave it that way throughout the rest of break in. It only stalled once but when it did, this time it started right back up rather than in the past where it had to cool down before it would turn over again. I've decided that when this engine finally decides to go I'm probably gonna go with a pico 26 max or something along those lines. That said, I'm gonna beat the snot out of this 3.3 while it lasts... Talk with you all again soon. I'll let you know how things continue to go with this hell raiser of mine

Well, it seems to be the end of the line for my 3.3 engine boys. Tried continuing the break in process again today and the same stuff started happening again. Stalling at temp, no starting until it cooled down. At this point I'm just wasting gas on the thing. I brought it back into the garage to the work bench and took it apart again. All of the parts that Traxxas replaced are damaged again in an almost identical fashion as the they were the first time. They evidently didn't think that my note saying the problem is with the engine block not the interchangeable parts was very helpful or a correct diagnosis for that matter. I sent it back to them again today. This time I laid down the law, in a nice way of course. If they won't replace the engine for free I don't want it back. So in a few days, I hope to either get a brand new 3.3 or I'll be shopping for an aftermarket engine. I honestly hope that they send me a new engine because when mine was working well, for that oh so short time, it was a great little power plant. If they don't, life goes on and I'm thinking pico .26 or something along those lines. I'll keep you posted. Talk with you all soon...

Finally resolved. Traxxas is sending me a new 3.3 free. They finally listened and agreed that the engine block was defective from the beginning. At this point I can recite what the break in process is in my sleep I've done it, or attempted to do it so many times. Looking forward to hopefully worry about something other than the engine going forward!

Sorry, but also glad to hear your news. I promise, when you get a good engine, you're gonna love that rig. So was the cylinder pitted on this latest engine too? That is weird, I'm sure it's happened before, but that is the first time I've heard of it. If you don't have to send the old engine back, you can either save it for spare parts (but after what's happened, I'm not sure I'd use anything off that motor) or lean it way out and see how fast it'll go before letting loose...:hehe:

That would be fine to do, but I had to send them the engine back. Basically ERP for free. My circumstances we're different though. It took them long enough though huh?!?! At least I have the 8ight to tool around with while I've been waiting for the 3.3 issue to be resolved. I should have the new one next week sometime. Right around the same time I should be getting fitted for the new leg! All good things to those who wait I guess. I'm pretty happy they decided to replace it because for the few tanks that 3.3 worked right for me, it was a son of b with power. I'll enjoy putting a new on into my revo...
