I will soon be getting a new digital camera.

After much research I have found the Canon Digital Rebel to be the best new full body under $1,000.00.

Does anyone here use this camera or have any other alternative brands or models to conceder?

Thanks,
-Ed

Yes I highly recomend the Dimage 7i by Minolta I have one and it is bad a$$ when I bought mine it was about 1150.00 but now you can get one on ebay for about 650.00-780.00 I think totaly set up. I am not an expert by no means but I would call photography my second hobby so if you have any other questions just let me know and I will see if I can help.
Thanks Tim MI

I just got the Sony DVR-DVD300, it is a dvd burner and a digital camera. It's slightly more than a $1,000. So far so good. I haven't tried to post anything with it yet.

The specs on the Dimage 7i look good for what it is. I already have a Sony 717 that is comparable to the Minolta.

What I'm looking for is a full body camera that is over 6 mp and will allow me to use quality interchangeable lenses. The most important issue for this purchase is the image quality V price for the body only. Lenses are for a different thread.

Keep em coming!

Has anyone tried the Neq Sony F828 8 mp? My Buddy has one and he says you can use different lenses!

Ed-
There is no other camera in that price range (especially an SLR)that can touch the rebel. Cannon is sending the digicam world into a small frenzy with this one. I too have my sights set on one as soon as an insurance check clears. That camera is schweet.

I just picked up a 3.1 MP Cannon. I have experience with several different cameras, from Minolta,Sony, and Pentax.

My father and I take detailed pictures of the antiques we buy and sell on the internet. Detail, clarity and color is important, but so is ease of use and the menu system.

I have also had problems on various cameras with white balance.

Anyways, the Cannon I have to say hands down Won me over with ease of use. It easy to take consistant pictures time after time, without having to fiddle for 20 minutes to get the color, and white balance right. This is on their low end model.

The only thing I ask you to beware of is battery longevitey. Look at the battery packs. Check voltages. Check capacity.

I have used excellent camera's with small battery packs that last a total of 20 minutes. There's nothing you can do to fix that. I never thought to look into battery capacity until my dad bought a camera that was lacking the juice.
