Does anyone know if a 9.6V battery would do any harm to the motors in a roto starter? I've got a spare 9.6V battery from an old tyco R/C car and has the right adapter and plugs right in. I've been searching for a 7.2V batt & charger at the LHS but they are way overpriced. I dont need some fancy computerized charger that brews coffee while you wait, just something cheap and effective. I was even thinking of installing a resistor in line on the adapter to step down the voltage if its too much. Any thoughts?

You can go to Toys R Us and get a wall plug style charger. Just check their RC section. Prices vary, but it will certainly not make coffee for you.

I have the charger that comes with the 9.6V battery, thats why I'm so tempted to just use this batt/charger setup temporarily instead of getting one at the LHS

Okay...the same type chargers can be purchased for the 7.2 sticks. As for the 9.6 doing damage to the roto-start, I'm not a full on electrician, but I do not see where it would. I would check the rotostart directions to verify that there aren't any limits already mentioned.

I never thought of toys r us, I'll definately check it out. BTW, [ame=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000ISUW/qid=1073609037/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/104-3448142-5719953?v=glance&s=toys]heres[/ame] the tyco battery/charger I have.

You can find them there and at Radio Shack. They usually sell a ton of them around Christmas, but generally keep a few in stock.

I use a 9.6 in my roto start but i dont charge it all the way as that way i keep the barttery juice a lil week it works and i havent charged my 9.6 since christmas as for my roto start i figure by the time it junks out ill would have bought another ewngine with a pull starter
