I want to get the new Iphone that came out. Unfortunately there is no prepaid Iphone deals that I am aware of. They all require a contract. I have a few negative things on my credit including one old Tmobile bill. Am I SOL or is there a way I can work things out with them? I would like to go with AT&t and I have a prepaid phone with them right now and love the service.

You will just have to go into AT&T and see if they will work with you. I would think they would be eager in this economy to open new accounts even on bad credit, if they even check stuff like that....

Actually, I set up my contract with them via the internet, was super fast and easy and I dont remember them doing any kind of check on me or needing much info either. Then my phone was at my door in like 2 days.

Go to a verizon corporate store (NOT A Authorized dealer) and they will get you hooked up even with poor credit. I have fairly good credit and atat wanted $500 deposit I went to verizon and all I did was have to pay for the phone which was $199.00 for the 16g. My buddy has really bad credit and verizon did the same to him but he had to pay the first month up front.

Any of the AT&T phones can be a prepaid phone. The catch is that you have to buy the phone at the regular price (about $200 more than a phone with a contract).

The new Iphone is prolly like $500-600 without a contract though....BUT, lump sum all at once still might be way safer in the long run. Plus, if you ever have to come out of the contract of the smart phone usage, you get a nice big fee for that too, which would just screw you all the more.

I was told by many people that the Iphone cannot be had with a prepaid deal. Not sure though I havent stopped in at the store yet.

How do you tell the difference between a corporate store and a dealer?

Can't do an iPhone on a pre-paid plan that I know of. To be honest, the straight talk and plans like are looking better and better to me. It's half of what I pay per month with a contract, for unlimited everything.

Yep stick with prepaid, i pay 50/month for unlimited everything and if i dont pay they just cut my phone off til i do. no collections can ever look for me lol...i use boost, 18 ontime payments makes it 35/month unlimited

thanks for the replies guys. I would get prepaid but I am in love with this new iphone. :hehe: Just to see what happened I went to walmart today and they had the 16 gb iphone 4s there for $185 with contract. I had the guy do a credit check and he said I wouldn't have to put any deposit down. Maybe my credit is better than I thought?? Only thing is they only sell the 16 gb there. I want to get atleast the 32 or 64 gb version in which I would have to go to At&t store. When he ran the credit check on me, it was for at&t service. Since I passed that do you think I will be able to go to an at&t store and get the same results having to put down no deposit? I would imagine the checks are the same but who knows. Also is the memory of the iphone upgradable later or is it built in? I want to get something that will have enough memory.

Mine is a 16gb and I have all the memory one could ever need on a phone. I got thousands of pictures and videos and still have like 10g left. My buddy has the 32gb and he has so much stuff on his phone it's redicoulous and still has plenty left. The only thing I don't have on my i phone is music cause I just listen to pandora. I erased it all after listening to the same stuff over and over. I don't think that make a 64gb i phone only i pod. No I don't think you can upgrade memory later or if you can you will prob have to pay apple to do it or somebody with lots of apple knowledge.

ok well I do plan on putting some music and videos on it. Maybe I will go for the 32 gb model or maybe even the 64gb. They do make a 64 gb one. Its $399 with 2 year contract.

If you had the option, and have the money for a 32gb IMO I would get the 32. I have the 16gb iPhone 4 and I have about 600 songs on, a few pictures, and like 4 pages of apps and I only have 5 gb left. That won't take long to fill with a few more apps.

Yea I figured on atleast the 32gb. I may just go with the 64 since the memory is not upgradable and I would rather have too much than not enough. Think I will be able to get a plan if I go to At&t since I did ok at Walmart checking my credit for At&t? Or is the actual store going to be more strict?

You should be fine. I've never heard of them checking credit before to let you get a phone contract. I think you'll be fine, and have fun with the iPhone I love mine!

yea the whole siri thing looks awesome and the fact that traxxas's new transmitter has Iphone capability make it a done deal for me
