ok well about 2 or 3 days of running hotter than i wanted then todat i couldnt get the freakin thing below 260 no matter how rich i put it and those temp are high cause I'm not running the stock cooling head i usually run it around 200-210 so I'm like theres gotta be an air leak somewhere so i go and check all the places a air leak would occure and when i got to the end caps on the carb one of the were only held in by the oring so it popped right out so I'm very convinced that was the prob. But it seems like the threads are stripped right out first of all what would cause this just the vibration??? and would i beable to get that stuck back in there or suttin or would i be better off buyin a whole new carb?? And if i have to replace anybody got one they wanna sell??

I would say just use your own judgement. If it looks like it can be re-assembled properly (maybe with some help from threadlock), then I would certainly try that before I buy a new carb.

I would think vibration could indeed cause something like this. I mean, these things vibrate severely, so that could be the cause.

Good luck on the repair. Post your results.

Peace

nah thread lock wont do it cause there are pretty much no threads

This has happened to me twice. I'm really disappointed in the "composite" carb body that Traxxas uses. Just from driving around, I've noticed the end cap gets loose. Instead of tightening it, I removed it, and out came the threads with it.

I pretty much took some ultra-copper, put it on the threads of the cap, and slowly turned the cap back into place. Holds up pretty well, just gotta make sure it stays sealed.

The alternative is a better carb..........problem being, a good OS carb is 60 bux at least. I put that 60 towards the Fantom I have on order, and just dealt with the TRX for now.

Rider:cause it runs better at 210 and i dont like the high temps liek that

Chris: What the hell is ultra-copper ill try and fix this one but I'm also buyin one off of 30% for 25

I'm going to guess its a copper safe sealant. Something you can get from the autoparts store. Also used for sealing backplates on your r.c. mills.

Just a heads up, there is very little that will withstand nitro that will stick to both al and plastic. I have tried about 8 different epoxies, 3 different kinds of metal cold weld and 4 different kinds of all purpose glue/sealant on my maxx. It's a long story, but none of the stuff held up for very long. I still haven't found what works.
