I am still new to the scene and I already own a hopped up T-MAXX with Sirio 18TX and I was looking to expand and purchase a new truck. Since I am still a newbie learning the ups and downs since I had purchased the used T-MAXX, I was considering on a new Savage .25
I wanted to buy the RTR Savage .25 to allow me to still learn more about nitro trucks rather than build my own and try and figure outwhat went wrong during assembly.
My question is,....What if any should I be concerned about the Savage .25 ???
Can I just drop in a better, more powerful engine without any conversions?
Do parts break as much as on the T-MAXX ???

Some of you may like T-MAXX and some of you may not....I am looking more on advice on purchasing a new Savage .25

Thanks

Hmmm...three questions....
1. You will get various answers about your first question. I'd suggest perusing this section of the forum and forming your own answer.
2. Yes, you can drop in a bigger and badder engine without much of a conversion kit. Once you get too large, you may need a kit...but you have a ways to go before getting there. Also, some engines may require a different engine mount...and that might require some drilling to accomodate on the engine plate.
3. NO. They don't break as much as the T-Maxx...BUT they do break.

Well how about parts availability? The T-MAXX has been out for a long time and there are a great number of replacable stock and hopup parts for the T-MAXX.
Is manufactures row up to speed and quality for stock and hopup parts for the Savage as well???
Is it a good idea to keep the roto starter on the stock 25 or swap it out for a pull start?
Is the 25 engine good for a newbie to learn off of and just enjoy in normal lot or park use?

Reason I ask such questions is because I have great difficulty getting my T-MAXX started to the point where I just pack it up and watch my friend run his Savage 25. And when I do even get the T-MAXX started, it just refuses to stay running even though it has been tuned by a LHS and worked great then but never when I try it out. It must be the downfall of me buying used. My friends are just able to run their Savage 25's without any starting or continuous running conditions no matter what the weather temperature is outside or how many times they turn it on and off on their own.

Thanks

1. yes, there is many manufactures and websites out there that have a lot of hop-ups and stock parts for the savage. try towerhobbies.com, goldenhorizons.com, or i think its mushroomrc.com.
2. i bought my savage .21 used and it came with the roto start. i didnt like it very much at all since you have to charge it a lot and carry the big thing around with you everytime you want to start it. so i just bought a pullstart and put it on my engine, and i like the pullstart much better now.
3. right now i only have the .21bb savage engine so i dont know how the .25 runs. but from what i hear, it is pretty easy to tune and has pretty good power and top speed. so with that, your answer is yes.
hope this helps.
savager

yup there are plenty of savage hop-ups out there at the sites Savager mentioned. I have the SS version with the S-25 and it does run very well. I have not had any other big-blocks to campare it to but it is a very decent engine.

Well.....I just picked up a brand new boxed Savage .25 along with some other stuff for it. I did get Integy MSR4 shocks with piggy backs but I am having trouble with them......they don't seem to be what I expected. So far I just installed 4 of the Integy shocks up front and there is just no absorb back when the front end is compressed down. I used 50 weight Trinity oil in them. Has anybody had experience with these Integy shocks on the Savage?
I have the Integy's installed on my T-MAXX with only one on each corner and they work way better than the newly installed 4 up front on the Savage.

Any Advice on how to go about using these shocks properly?

Thanks

EDIT From Above:
Well I just treid something different.....the shocks seem to spring back a whole lot better without any oil and installed just on one side. I know I should be using oil in them but I think the 50 weight oil I had used at first is a bit too thick for them to spring back into full lenght. I am gonna have to get me some really thin weight oil, most likely what they specify to use which is 15 - 20 weight.

The savage integy shocks are longer than the maxx shocks. On a savage, with thicker oil, you would be more likely to bend a shaft anyway.

You could always try some heavier springs as well.
