bump starter

hi I'm going to be using a bumpstarter and i want to take the pull start off and i want to know if i have to put something on the back of the engine where the pull starter was or if it would be alright leaving it open please help

I think you are suppose 2 use a back-plate but I'm not sure on that.....

You don't have to take off the pull starter. Just leave it in there.

Diver's right. Leave the pull start on. If you want to ditch the pull start, there will be a fair amount of work to do to make it right. Depends on the engine. Typically you'd have to find a non-pullstart backplate and modify the crankshaft or buy a new non-pullstart crankshaft. If you just take off the pull start, you'll have massive air leaks which will cause the engine to run poorly or not at all.

well it's a OS CV-RX and does anyone know where i can get the screws to hold it on to the backplate cause i only have 2 holding it on,

No, it's the .15. Yea has alot of power, still can't tune right cuase its too damn fast on the street.

I'm just a noob... but i think i would just remove the one way bearing from inside the pullstart than put it back on because I've heard from a few people here that the pullstart causes drag when the engines runing. and without the one way the pullstart is disconected from the engine but your still covered

No pilots idea wont work. The crankshaft on a nonpulll engine is too long to do that. Just leave it on!

i dont understand what you meen bandit....as i understand it he has a pullstart engine right now he just wants to use a bump box instead of the pullstart....so i dont understand what you meen by the longer crankshaft on a non-pullstart engine............trying to explain what i do know about rc`s nitro & electric to my wife makes me really think about everything that can and does go wrong with these things and its curius why we pick this as a hobby....do we just like pain? :boxing:

yea, i don't see any thing wrong with taking the one-way bearing out and putting the pull starter back on..

you will reduce some weight off the car if you eliminate the pull start you will find the back plate @ you Lhs just call first O.S. is a brand that a lot of shops carry so it should not be hard to find
