Sorry about the new thread, I searched but couldn't find what I was needing.

I blew my rear diff and I'm going to go ahead and put the bulletproof diffs on. My question is when I look up bulletproof diffs on tcs and hpi racing the only thing I can find is the 29/9 tooth combo, my savy x has a 43/13 tooth setup.

Is the diffrence in teeth just because the teeth are bigger, or do they make a bulletproof 43/13 tooth setup? If they do does anyone have a link for them.

Thanks in advance!!

Are you talking about the differential or the spurgear/clutchbell set-up. Because if you are talking about bulletproof differential, the ones i have on are pretty damn tough:

Or if you are talking about bulletproof spurgear/clutchbell, i got that set-up

When the meshing is set-up right, it is really though combination. But alot of people say that the plastic ones(stock) can be as though. But once again, the meshing of those 2 has 2 be just right(not too loose and not too tight.

Hope that helps, good luck!:)

I run Hpi #86922 diffs. I got them from tcscrawlers.com, they have best price around. I've only had them for 1/2 gallon so I can't say much about them, but they are certainly better than the stock ones. If you broke your spider gears, I wouldn't worry about it and just epoxy it. It will make your truck digg better, but might make you lose some handling.

Yeah, not sure what "bulletproof" is in reference to any rig I've known.

The most recent diffs I bought were off ebay for around $30 a piece that were for the savage XL. It has gears like gnarkill linked. Usually, on ebay, they come with the diff case, assembled diff, bearings and out drive cups.

The X and XL diff cases are built better than old school diff cases (the outer case, not the cup). I have an old school savage and I bought alloy diff cases for them. Unfortunately, the XL out drive cups were too large to fit through the case halves, so I had to use my original cups. The ring/pinion gears look to be made of much better material than any diff I ran in a savage in the past.

All I can suggest is run the XL diff ring/pinion and alloy cup, then make sure to use high grade bearings and shim the mesh properly. That's about as good as your going to get in a savage.

Unless, your thinking of the CEN genesis mod... Sorry, I just remembered that mod. I found it about 12 minutes after ordering my alloy cases and XL diffs. Was really peeved about it.

Anyway, here's a how to on that mod:

I hear that some people at the "different savage place" have had some problems with the CEN dif mod. That's why I keep it basic with the hpi diffs.

Here is a link to the bulletproof diffs, ther suppose to be machined from a solid piece of metal instead of being casted.

Over at the "other savage place" they say these are holding up better than the cen diffs. They also like them better because they don't add alot of weight to the driveline like the cens do.(or thats what there saying anyway.)

I need to get me a couple sets of these. My big heavy Savage can munch some diffs even when shimmed correctly. That LRP ZR.30 is hard on the driveline.
