It's time to replace the bulkheads on the T-Maxx. Should I use an aluminum replacement or use the stock bulkheads and strngthen them with the bulkhead braces. I broke the rear bulkhead where the shock mounts are attached.
 
Absolutely, positively, buy aluminum bulkheads. Don't worry about the bulkhead braces. Aluminum bulkheads are the way to go.
 
Yea I'm thinking that aluminum bulkheads with RPM arms will be a good combination but that's based on what I've read, you have a lot more experience. I was going to PM scottm, I've heard many good things about his bulks. What are you running lessen?
 
I have the rc solutions bulkheads and rpm arms on my Maxx and I wouldn't go any other way. Unfortunately RC Solutions is no longer making their bulkheads. But I would definitely go aluminum on the bulks.
 
Great Assemblies 7075's with 6061 braces. Some of the best money can buy. Considering what you get and how well they are made, $105 isn't the big of a deal. Traxxas sells just the bulks in aluminum (which are a replica of factory) for $60 for each end, so $120 total.

Keep in mind regardless who you go with for aluminum, new hinge pins are required because the stockers won't thread in.
 
Ok I'm glad you reminded about the pins. In fact, I was just thinking about the pins earlier today and it already slipped my mind, so I'm gonna save this thread in my favorites and check before I order them to make sure I don't forget. I'm thinking about the 7075's because I do some custom parts fabrication for my hot rods and stuff so I know how much difference metal strength can make. I just hope I don't spend 100 bucks on some arms and then they still bend. Do you know about their warranties at Great Assembly?
 
No, I don't. But for arms, you'd be money ahead to go with RPM. Then there is some give if you smack into something. It takes a pretty good hit to break an RPM arm, but at $12-$14 for a new one (or use their lifetime guarantee), it's a better way to go. At least IMO.

Lunsford makes some nice stuff... for your hinge pins.
 
Definately go with RPM A-arms. Durable, cheap, and warrantied forever. What you should do is buy like 5 sets instead of four. That way if you do break something, you can swap it out for the backup while you wait for the broken one to be replaced by RPM. Basically, you'll never have to buy another suspension arm again.
 
I've already got RPM arms all the way around. I've got some stock spares to get me out of a bind if I break one, but that's a great idea with having an extra set lessen.

what aobut shock towers, aluminum or RPM?

soory, that should be *about* ! I hate when people spell words wrong all the time, especially on purpose
 
Also, RPM. Things that stick out and make contact with the earth should be flexible or you will run into more expensive breakage/bending.

If you have the dough and are hard as all getout on your truck, you could go with flextek's titanium arms with your nice 7075 bulks... but they are $220 for a set of 4. Way too much for my blood... but you could more than likely rest assured that you'd never have an arm problem again. They also flex when you run into stuff, so they absorb chassis tweaking impacts like RPM does. But they won't tear at the hinge pins like RPM can do in extreme situations (had it happen twice on one lower arm in 2 years).
