Yeah... I have got to find some old batteries.. or I can just go buy some cheapos and not worry about it. I know that once I do it a few times I will be ok. Just need to practice. I am sure I will have tons more questions before this is all said and done. Thanks guys.

Tom

I tore apart an old nicd pack and used it as practice. It took about 4 tries before I got comfortable enough to start the pack building.

Be sure to scuff the ends of the cells and do not touch the ends after you have done so. Same with the contact points of the battery bars.

all this advice is great stuff Tom.....I do it exactly how Eddy described...tin the batt ends AND the wire ends...Tinning means put some solder on those spots...just enough to make a very small bump on the batt and let the wire ends soak all the flux into them...I dip the wire ends in flux and they suck up the solder real quick...then you only have to touch the wire end to teh batt end and touch it with your super hot solder pen......the jig is nice but you can do it with out one and still be straight.....

Thanks guys I will let you know how it goes. I may see about getting someone to show me on my expensive packs and then try it myself on some old ones. I guess I should have thought about this before I jumped in Head First. LOL

I'm looking to build a couple packs too, one for my lst2 and one for the losi spin starter. Any suggestions as to where to buy and what capacity?

I would go after 4200 mAH.

OK will do. Are there any brands that I should be looking for or any place in particular to order from. Thanks again for all the feedback.

For the spin starter any sport pack will do. If you want to maximize your time between charges without breaking the bank for a set of 4200’s, you can pick-up a Orion Rocket pack which use 3900 cells. It is about half the price of the 4200 cells and come pre-built which is all you really need for a spin starter.
