I am thinking about getting a buggy soon but dont really know anything about the genre to make an educated purchase.

I dont plan on doing any REAL racing, I just want one to have fun with, jump things, take it offroad and stuff. Obviously I dont pieces to break every time I take a jump. What recommendations can you guys make for a good first buggy that can grow with my interests and skill.

thanks

Ofna makes a pretty decent buggy, and for the price, you can get everything ready to run including a starter box. They have alot of different packages, and deals. I suggest you do alot of reading. I would choose something that fits to your liking. I almost bought an Ofna buggy, but wound up getting a stadium truck instead. Go to Tower hobbies website and take a look around. Check with your LHS and see what they carry. Just my .02

Around 300.

I already have a set of electronics so that isn't necassary.

Ofna,GS,Hot bodies lightning (pro version only) these seem to be the most recomended buggies for around $3-500 price range, you would be considered very lucky to find any buggy brand new for around $300, I also suggest you do alot of reading as well, a good buggy is not cheap, but a cheap buggy will only get real expensive fast! good luck! let us know what ya get!

Go with the hot bodies lightning pro if you already have a set of electronics. The highest price i have seen it for was $359. It is a realible buggy.

just wondering why you say the highest price. buy the lightning from rcboyz.com for $290 and get a $50 radio system to go with it and get you started. this is the cheapest buggy worth getting.

if you dont feel like spending that much get a stadium truck. they can go for around $100 cheaper

Just get a B4 Associated Tem Kit from RCBoyz and pop in a Monster Revenge Pro Stock motor, Robinson 21T pinion, GP Matched 3300 cells, and get ready to fly down the track. At my local races everyone is die hard Losi but in the Stock Buggy class 1,2,3 is Associated B4 Buggies. The real key to smoking the competition is a good speed control (I use LRP Digital v7.1 with a Airtronics Competition High Speed/High Torque Digital Metal Gear Servo (115 oz-in, 0.06s at 6.0V) and you will never have to worry about not being able to hold a corner again). The above is just my two cents but I have a little bias as I run all associated cars RC10GT, T4, and B4. If you have any further questions let me know...

I said that because that was the highest price I've seen it for i just didnt know the lowest price. But that is a good deal$290.

for 450$ you can get an pretty much not talked about buggy..the XTM x-terminator deluxe. the deluxe has the updated head 24.7 engine..which is a very talked about engines being reliable and very powerful. my xtm deluxe is very durable...it has litaraly gone thru hell and each day i am impressed with how far i can push it. really i think if you jsut want to havefun with a buggy and not realy out to win races..any buggy will make you happy as all 1/8 buggys are built very bullet-proof....i think alot of people on this forum base there opinions of buggys on how well they cross the finish line as its a givin that almost any buggy will be very durable. any of the buggies listed about in the 350-500$ range will be a very fun basher.

BTW if your willing to raise your limit to 500$ max..id recomend gs storm RTR, hyper 7 pbs/pcr RTR, lightning pro with mx-3 and some okay servos, or xtm x-terminator deluxe RTR. (once agian i am VERY happy with my xtm deluxe..as little recognized as it is..i will say its hard to imagine some plastic and aluminum can go thru so much hell!!)
