I have the XTM x-terminator 1/8 buggy, and i am caught between the sh .28 and the xtm 24.7, just looking for an inexpensive mill for bashing. if there is something else that I can pick up for less than 150 that is a good engine please throw that in
thanks

been looking a lot and its time to get things moving

I have run a XTM 24.7, a SH .28, and a Wasp .28 in buggies. My fav is the Wasp...my Wasp .28 powered truggy can outrun my friends SH .28 X-Terminator. not by a lot...but I have more weight with my truggy. The wasps go for around 145ish in ebay.

how is the tune-ability of the wasp? I'm not the greatest cause all I ahve really had to tune was the HPI k4.6

the claimed HP of the wasp is less than the SH but has higher RPM, does this mean it would be better in a buggy? than the lower RPM SH

1. Do a search on the tuning...its been asked before a few times. I find it very easy to tune but I have tuned more engines than you.

2. Don't pay attention to those ratings. The HP ratings are made up in most cases. My wasp pushes a truggy faster than a SH .28 can push a buggy. They have similar top RPMs but wasp is more powerful in all ranges I find.

ok so what is the difference between the wasp with the dark cooling head http://cgi.ebay.com/Orion-WASP-Team...ryZ34062QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and the one with the silver head??
besides being a different color (maybe I just answered my own question)

right now using the search function I see that I may want to go with a .21 engine b/c the larger engines are just too much torque and they break it loose. but I am a tight wad and will just be bashing so it this really something that I need,
also i am kinda new to looking for after market motors so what are some brands, this is kinda my biggest hold up at the moment

For bashing go with the .28...its more fun to break loose :D

They are jsut a different color. Wasp .28, Diablo .28, Samuri .28...all the same...but I think the Wasp looks the coolest.

the more I look into this the more I realise that I don't know a whole lot about the over all engine market. LOL I guess thats cause I need some other people to run with to expose me to other stuff.
on a side note AC when I was 16 my dream car was a 3000gt vr4 and I even got to drive one that totally sucks that guy messed your car up
and thanks for the help folks I think I am going to go for the wasp .28there is one on e-bay for 120 shipped should I get it??

Thanks for the comment on the car...the car is my dream car minus the VR4 part...parents wouldn't have that haha.

120 shipped is a great deal on a Wasp .28.

i have noticed the hyper 8 port but don't know anything about them, can some one give me a first hand run down, thanks for keeping an eye on my questions guys.

I'm runnin one in my hyper 7. It's a good engine, but not quite enough power for me though...but then again I've maybe gotten half a gallon through, probabaly less, so idk yet. But I'm a Tim Taylor guy, there can never be too much power for me! I'd reccomend looking on ebay for the 8-port Race pull-start version though, if you decide you want it. And if you want the pull-starter...

a good cheaper motor is a mach .26.... very easy to tune... and nice low and top end..... it is a very very reliable motor. u can get them for around 130 on ebay.

OR, the sportwerks .26. It's $130, and has a better carb than the mach, but is essentially the same. I also agree that it's a great powerful motor, but I reccomend the sportwerks .26 over the mach .26.

greenwing, good motor, good price. Hyper 8 port is tuner's nightmare, but it does make killer high end power. Better to get low end grunt for your type of use. Another motor to consider in the future are some of the Fantom .28's.

It is not hard to tune, just hard during break in. For that price, it is a pretty good engine. It would be better if you are using starter box. If you are using pull-start, go get yourself a glove :)

lol, I don't know why everyone says it's hard to tune...it's not...and I'm DEFINATELY not the best tuner in the world...
