Ok I was interested in a buggy awhile back but when I saw the price of them I was like NO! well I was bounceing from site to site and came across the Hyper 7 PBS it is in my price range and a bunch of you guys here have them and say they are good and built like a tank.
and my LHS carries parts, and i wanted to know how do thay handle grass, gravel, dirt, ditches and track. and they say it comes with a starter box, and i was wondering what battery dose it need.

Thanks

Yes they are very good an durable, but the stock radio equip sucks, the stock RX/TX and throtte servo get the job done, but it DEFINATELY needs a new steering servo.
Grass, not reccomended, it over-heats the engine, and plus it doesn't go very fast in the grass w/o some proline badlands
gravel, is ok as long as it's not real big/bumpy
dirt, awesome, as w/ any buggy as long as there isn't many dirt clods and stuff
track, well, awesome since that is where all 1/8 buggies are born...

They really don't do well in the slightest rough terrain, they're ok, but not good. They're best on the track, and for me, it's the only fun place to drive mine since I long ago got bored of the street, and the construction site near me is too rough in most sections (but awesome for my savage...)

Also, the stock starter-box sucks and isn't enough to break-in the engine. But I feel it might be fine w/ the glow-plug loosened a bit.

1:8 buggies go OK on grass so long as it is mown short like the turf on a garden or sports field. Most tracks used in the UK 1:8 rallycross championship are grass tracks. Grip is fairly high compared to dirt/clay so heavier diff oils are usually used, 10/10/1 and 30/30/3 are not uncommon amongst this year's front runners. Torsen diffs seem to be losing favour here for some reason.

I'm not sure what the Proline Badlands are like but here in the UK a long spike tyre pattern works best, Medial Pro Turbo Rats and HoBao Angle Spikes being the favourites.

the hyper 7 is a bad a$$ ride.. its not gonna bash around like a savage or t-maxx but I've drivin mine on grass, dirt road, through ditches, concrete, smal gravel, just about everywere.. i have panther tires and although I'm sure they would work great on a track.. they leave much to be desired on grass which is where i primairly run.. if your a basher then its great, if your a racer it can do that to, and best of all its BUFF!! i mean the arms on this thing.. the peices are thicker than the arms on my savage.. all together I'm very happy with my decision to purchase the hyper 7.. the only thing i need right now to make it 100% is better grip tires.. oh and you will need to change the cener diff oil first thing.. it has so much power the front unloads and just spins.. but i have a ported hot bodies .26 so i can't vouch for the factory motor

Ya, I was mainly talking about grass such as in yards, not golf courses or rallyX tracks.

But anyway, the stock motor is pretty good, gets up to speed pretty quickly, but some say it's hard to tune, but that wasn't the case for me..

And Beason, what are you smoking? The hyper 7 arms aren't thicker than the savage, lol. (not tryin to start something, I'm jus sayin) But ya, the thing is hella-durable and has some beefy parts...

if you look at the individual sections of the crosses and x es in the arms then compare to the savage arms..

Hyper 7 rocks. I got rid of my inferno RTR cause that sucked! Couldn't get parts and I always needed em, the engine blew too. So I got the Hyper 7 PBS. Stock radio gets the job done-upgraded to new steering servo. World of difference! I'm still trying to get mine running, but i'm kinda new at this so that might be y I'm having trouble tuning mine. But it's awesome. well built and rock solid. 1st thing to do when u get it-get a new steering servo, then remove the rear stabalizer bar. Handles great! I'm liking the engine too! I run mine on grass all the time-it's good as long as it's shorter grass and not too long. For street and gravel, toss some spacers in there to stiffen the suspension or else from the factory it will bottom out. That's my 2 cents!

what is a good servo upgrade for a buggy do you need something as powerfull (torque) like you have in an MT

Pro-Line Badlands are some of the meanest off road buggy tires there are. They are the long wear XTR compound (not the soft or sticky m2 type). These tires provide some of the most aggressive traction on just about any surface other than a perfect blue groove racing surface.

If they have Pro-Line in the UK I would suggest trying a set. One note, the lugs on these tires are tall enough, to where you may want to consider re-gearing (yes, they are that aggresssive).
