Okay, so weighing the options for a new brushless system for my Rustler after i get it back from Traxxas. Really I have no clue what one to go with at all.

Associated Eraser 9.5T

Castle Creations 1/10 Mamba Max 4600kV

Novak system (not sure what one)

Traxxas Velineon

Venom Pro 4400kV

Losi Xcelorin 4800kV


I want a setup that is good for a pure out basher. Something that will handle a lot of abuse and handle a 3 cell Lipo. It needs to have good torque and good top end. I have listed only a couple Name brands that i know of but if you have any other suggestion let me know.

I'm really interested in the Losi BL stuff however. It looks good and is made by Losi.. Anyone know anything about them?

If you want a solid performer that doesn't have heat issues on 3s you want a Mamba Max esc with a Velineon motor! That set up on 3s was crazy in my Pede and gear correctly never had a problem with heat.

+1, its what i use in my slash. You can control everything with the castle link, and the low voltage motor keeps it nice and cool.

Anyone run the Xcelorin stuff? I have been looking at it a lot and it seems really nice. It has the programming options just like the CCMM setup does. Full USB and programming card.

The VXL doesn't seem to have a good top end though? I may be wrong though, but I thought 3500kV is just a tad slow isn't it?

If you put the velenion motor on a 3s lipo. its 11.1 volts. Your pushing that little motor at a perfect 38850 rpms. You dont wana risk pushing over 40000rpms with a brushless motor, without risking damaging it with heat.

I have driven a losi xceleron bl setup before, and i was not near as impressed as i am with the castle mamba maxx esc's programming options.

I do say that Castle ESC and Velineom Motor on 3s is a perfect set up and it will take lot's of abuse...

I wouldnt mess with the associated/LRP motor, just never heard too great of reviews on it, and have never even heard of anyone at all running the venom setup.

i ran the excelorin system and it was very very smooth but lacked the punch you get with a mamba. Not a bad system but i agree with the others. Mamba max and either a castle or velineon motor.
