Is higher KV better or worse. i just can't figure it out

a brushed motor the higher the turns the more torque and less speed the lower the turns the less torque and more top speed.

well, per every volt whatever kv that motor is, that's how many revoluntions per volt per minute it will make a 3000kv motor on 7.2 volt battery pack will put out 21,600 revolutions perminute and the battery would last longer than a 5700kv motor which would put out more rpm's and the battery pack wouldn't last as long

That really depends on what you are using the motor in, the higher the Kv the more RPM's per volt of electricity the motor will turn with no load on it, you would generally run less voltage to higher Kv motors and more voltage to lower Kv motors, Lower Kv motors are generally going to produce more torque and are better suited for larger or heavier vehicles, just the opposite for higher Kv motors.

oh that explains why slashes use 5-6000 kv systems and why the brushless revo uses a 2650 kv system. thanks for the info guys

The cans are completely different sizes. The brushless revo uses a much larger motor.

In general, smaller motors can have higher KV ratings, while larger motors have a lower range of KV ratings.

The VXL system from Traxxas is a 3500 KV. I personally like the lower KV motors myself. The only time I have used a high KV motor was in my RC18B and it was like a 5400 KV.
