Brushless Carnage

I bought an e-firestorm as my backyard basher because it boasted a sealed tranny with all metal gears. I figure thats pretty dang strong and i go ahead and throw a mamba max/6900 combo in it. I was bashing pretty hard on it yesterday and i threw out a rear dogbone after missing a landing and cartwheeling. I got the dogbone back in but the tranny felt like it was full of gravel. I opened the tranny and to my sheer delight, i found a shattered set of bevel gears!!! this is my first brushless carnage and i couldn't be happier. Thanks castle!!!

now i know the picture sucks but its the best my phone can do. i think my wife lost the camera and she thinks i lost it.

i am going to tear through our house tonight looking for the camera. you have got to see these gears with clarity. i even bought a toothbrush to clean the grease off with so i could see it better.

You can't understand the pure power of this system until you understand how strong those beveled metal gears are. And to think, I just bought a Mamba Max 6900 setup last night, and I don't have anything to put it in. hmmm, I gotta find something. =devil

the firestorm is a GREAT truck. this was just my own stupidity. i had a bunch of people watching so i launched it off the ramp and botched the landing (read i came down at wot on 1 rear wheel) this started the truck cartwheeling and thats when everything went downhill. for 209 this is the best truck i have ever owned.

oh yeah. i found the camera, enjoy!! If this doesn't tickle your pickle, nothing will.

Nope, i wish i would have. It was a rather impressive roll. You know you are doing something right when your truck lands, cartwheels and then slides on the roof. they smoothed out the soccer field at work so i will get a video if it next week.

woot! i've had chipped and rounded gears before but never had anything shatter like this. Thanks for the compliments. I am still waiting for my 6000Hv lipo to get here from max amps and when it does, i will try to get some more carnage for you. I am thinking if i get some wide and lightweight tires on the back so i can actually get traction instead of spinning my way up to top speed, i will be able to snap a dogbone. we shall see. gonna get new gears ordered tonight. i am putting my baja together next week and then i'll post a racing video between the 2.

I took the RC18b out last night and in one battery I believe the rear differential is starting to get grumpy...but WOW that thing is insanely fast with a 6 cell, I'm glad I held off on buying a lipo yesterday.

its the 6000Hv 2s lipo. You can't run a 3s with the 6900 and i actually run a little hot so the lower voltage will help.

pm me about the "grumpy". if anything is messed up, it will only be the gears and i think there was a spare set in there. The outdrives are MIP and the only thing left in there are the diff and thrust balls, few shims and a spring. you can tighten and loosen the thrust spring to help it slip a little if needed. but yeah, its super fast on 6 cells. :yes:

Meh, I'm not sure...still runs fine. I've got plenty of parts to repair it from ya that's for sure, but I'm always looking for an excuse to go to the hobby shop, looks like tires will be my biggest trip. I just put a new set on yesterday so I'm good for a now. I enjoy the 1/18th scale anyway, something new to learn on. So far seriously it seems bulletproof though. :yes: I'm VERY happy with it. Now for a new body to paint.

i placed my order on thw 18th and it shipped on the 25th. i called and they said they were behind due to rcx. i need to order one more for the firestorm sometime. Probably when i get a battery pack for the baja.


glad you are happy marauder. Oh yeah, the blue reedy motor in there gave up the ghost on me. not sure what happened but on its mainden voyage down the street, it died. the other 2 motors are fine as far as i know.
