I had 5 different test indicators when I left machining. A Starrett test inducator set, two Interapids, one with the mile long stem, one laydown version, a BestTest just like this one, and a Mitutoyo. I had another nice Interapid 3 years into my career that burned up in a fire. The replacement I bought for it - within 10 minutes of me getting my order in at the tool room, I took it out of the box, mounted in in a drill chuck on a Haas VF3, and was using the remote handwheel getting ready to sweep a 1/4" dowel hole in. I got it close to the hole, then fumbled the remote while trying to switch the wheel increment from .100" per step to .001" per step and jammed that $375 indicator into that 1/4" hole all the way to the dial. It looked like a peeled banana

Yeah, I almost want to buy it from my budfy myself. But I have a boatload wrapped up in a new PC build at the moment. I could build a mount to sweep my print beds. Having the longer needle, it wouldn't run out if travel. I don't know though. My print beds are pretty wavy.
