So, finally had decent enough weather to bash around a bit with my Revo and check out how the new spur/CB set-up works (awesome, by the way, thanks Jetmech for the advice) and I had the OS .18TM dialed in and having a blast! Get about three tanks through him when I take a nasty roll and rip the silicone couple between the manifold and muffler, so I decide to wrap it up for the day.

Get it to the garage and am blowing off dirt, leaves and the like and notice that the shock shaft on the rear, left shock is gone! Look at little further, and the damn thing had broken off! Spring and both shock ends are still there (heck, thing is still screwed to the shock mount and rocker arm) but there's just a nub of a shaft showing! These are Integy Piggybacks as well! Anyone else running these have something like this happen? What's surprising is that I wasn't jumping anything, just running around the yard, kind of practice racing.

I could understand it snapping taking a hard landing or one where it lands with all it's weight on that wheel, but just bouncing around the yard? Seems kind of odd to me!

At least I had some fun burning a little nitro, though! I'm anxious to get it on a track for once and see how it does!

What CB/SPur combo did you get?

Sorry to hear about the shock. Integy shock shafts had this rep in the past and I thought it was cured with the new series. I would contact them and see if they will warranty it. Worth a try.

14/38 with FOC and close-ratio gears. Thing has a bunch of giggy-up now!

Yeah, I'm going to contact Integy and see what they're willing to do, if anything. If they choose to do nothing, I'll go back to stockers with Ti shafts and aluminum caps, I guess. Seems to be what most folks run, isn't it?

I went with the Ti shafts.

I am geared 16/40 with the close ratio.

I might have to give that combo a shot as well. I bought the 16 and 40 gears while I was there, just to have. You find that keeps the nose down pretty good?

Yes, especially with all the low end power of the RB. Fo rthe .18 which likes the revs, you might be better where you are. I needed the close ratio for the track I mostly run. Otherwise, stock would be better. I still get wheelies leaving the corners.

Ah, you'll like this one! It's been 14 days since I contacted Integy about this. If any of you have had to deal with Integy on a warranty or customer service issue, rather than standard e-mail, they have a ticket system, kind of like a helpdesk. Anyhow, submitted my ticket and they responded with the question that they didn't know what the picture was showing. I respond by explaining what the picture was and added another (the system only allows one picture per ticket, so I had to open another ticket). These geniuses responded this morning by saying I needed replacement parts! NO poop! Here's the ticket thread for you enjoyment:

itle : Piggyback Shocks for Revo
On 03-12-06, I ran my Revo in my yard merely to check the tune on my engine and just to run it on an atypically mild day here in Ohio. I was not jumping the truck or really 'bashing' with it, but running it around the yard. As I was cleaning the truck off, I noticed that the right, rear shock shaft had severed in two places (see attached photos). I'm curious as to whether I can get a replacement shock and if so, what process is required to obtain one. Thanks! Ellery Savage, Jr.Attachment: Revo-Failed Integy 2.jpg

iwong 20/03/06 11:05 Can you give us more details? ... the picture is showing a part that looks like a foam insert and the picture says Revo / Savage?---------------------------------------

esavage 20/03/06 15:57[ Edit ] Savage is my last name. The picture is of the bottom of the shock. What looks like a foam insert is actually the sheared off shaft still in the bottom shock mount. I will try to send another picture as well, as soon as I figure this site out. Also, will it take eight more days for a response? Just want to get an idea of how long my rig may be down or if I should just buy some different shocks. Thanks!

esavage 23/03/06 03:17[ Edit ] Hey, you guys going to get back to me on this or should I just go buy a different set of shocks? I know it's for a hobby truck, the difference is you guys get paid for it, I don't. I spent close to $100.00 for these shocks to have one fail within a month on nothing more than a hour of run time in my lawn. This is taking way too long, so how about someone getting back to me on this, please.

iwong 26/03/06 13:25 You need replacement parts. esavage 26/03/06 13:49[ Edit ] Geez, you think? Is this warranty or not? Come on, this is ridiculous! You are treating me like some moron when the absolute opposite is true! This is a waste of my time! You've lost any future business from me simply because of this! I don't care if my LHS is GIVING Integy stuff away. Smart-alec responses like, "you need replacement parts" are uncalled for and out of line.

Can you flippin' believe this? I can understand a shock breaking, and if I had been doing something outrageous I'd of bitten the bullet and owned up, but this kind of customer service (or lack thereof) just makes me livid!

Replacement parts.......man, I'd love to do nothing but smack that assclown!

They lost something in the translation! LOL Sorry man, bustin' ya. Send it back to them with a note (picture preferrably) on where they can stick it!

Well, I guess I do not need to buy anymore Integy parts...get 200 of us to agree to this and send them this thread.
