So i recently bought a savage xl and xss kit used and i was working on my xl last night getting it ready to run and i noticed the foam in the proline trenchers is broken down from where the truck was setting on them for a year. can i unmount them and remount or should i just run em as they are.

You can run them but may have a lot of wobble and swelling. Getting the tires off rims are sometimes more trouble than its worth, but if you can i would at least break them down and tape the inside of tires with a couple layers of gorilla tape or duct tape. Maybe even try to find some new foams and stick in them. Check prolines web page and see if they sell just the foams. Pretty sure they do but dont hold me to it.

Boiling water makes short work of tire glue, just be careful doing so. You can find some videos on YouTube explaining how to so watch them before trying. Just be careful not to warp the rim once it heats up by pressing on it too hard. I've reused wheels 4-5 times, I'm cheap lol.

Oh you can also bake them which I don't recommend, smells up the house and is toxic I'm sure lol. Or you can soak them overnight in...acetone? I think it is?

I use the baking method and it is super easy!!! But it does smell quite a bit so open all of your windows :)

Thanks guys I've already got a set of these trenchers for my revo that i can use on my savage also so ill prob try to break them down and if it doesn't go so well oh well. the savages i bought came with some foams ill just have to see if they are the right size to use in the trenchers.

Yes it is actually by far best way in my experience but you can't imagine the smell it makes lol. Its that bad! Not to mention I'm sure its harmful to people and animals, just open every window and door and leave go outside. I'm not positive its toxic but common sense tells me it is after smelling it :)

Boiling is the hardest of the 3 ways I've done. The acetone is nice but takes a whole day. Also, use the acetone to remove left over glue once removed in any case. I just use an old rag with rubber gloves and wipe down.

i think I'm gonna bake my tires and just open the french doors in my kitchen

If the foams are right I'm also gonna gorilla tape em so they dont expand so much

I bake my wheels yes it does smell but as long as you have proper ventilation its not that bad. Also double wrapping them in tinfoil helps.

Never thought of that...good idea. I've only done once but now I have 2 dogs and a cat so I can't try it :(
