Ok well i took a big chunck out of both the 4th and 5th cooling fins i was wondering f this could wait until i get some more needed things for my maxx or if i shouldreplace it right away like will it make my engine over heat or will it be ok to run it like that for a while

It will run ok for now but you shouuld take apart the engine to see if inside got damaged any. When you wrecked it.

yea i have the whole mill apart on my bench awaiting me to order the sirio piston and sleeve. Nothing else got damaged aside from the fins

WTF would you use this weird ass smily lol:sheep:

I dont know man i dont know. :wtf:

my maxx found its way under my pickup truck when it was going nearly full bore. it knocked off several fins but it still runs just fine. i keep a check on the temp. with a temp gun, and it hasn't changed much if at all. keep in mind i'm not running it hard every day. i'm looking around for a good aftermarket cooling head, but when the urge hits to run the maxx...what are you going to do? when you gotta play you gotta play. keep a check on the temp and if it still runs o.k. run that bastard..fins or not.

Yeah, I agree w/ jray. Run it but, keep an eye on the temp. Since it is not the middle of summer, you will probably be alright, depending on how hard you run her.

Later...:nuke:

I would consider replacing the head. Reduce the size of a heat exchager and you reduce the capacity to cool. Any pics?

nah no picsbut ill have one b4 it starts getting hot just tight on cash riht now its not top priority cause right now i have to get a newcharger, humppack, 2 alu front bulkheads, and a piston

If you have only dinged the fins, don't sweat it. You would need to do some serious damage to the cooling head in order to dramatically change the performance characteristics.

I have one engine that has several fins bent together from some not so pretty landings. The engine still runs like a champ and cool like it should be.

Since you already have the mill apart, make certain you give it a good inspection for any other damages the crash may have caused to the engine.

well half of the 4th and 5th fin re toataly missing not just bent and everyhin else is ok.

That should still be fine. Missing fins only create larger gaps between the surrounding fins. It may not decrease the cooling surface area too much. I wouldn't worry about it.

you shouldent have a problem with cooling. i had a nitro rush with a 7 fin heatsink and after a jump it had only 4, and it still ran full throttle through a tank of gass (i tried , i was pissed at the time). it may not look very good, but itl work

You guys must drive like girls, just kidding. lol

no that wouldent make sense, we beat the poop out of our cars, Hmm... does that sound girlish???

I can overheat my car with all the fins on too. its easy. he is just talking about how fast it wil overheat.

yup thats what i meant cause its not that hard to overheat it while bashing
