can i use a normal break rotor or do i need those special kind of pads?

i sent the guy a message about it i hope hes willing to pay for the damaged part.

That sucks. Looks like poor packaging for shipment.

Do they sell just the composite pads by themselves?

Of course the entire rear brake kit is only about $17.

I hope the seller steps up to the plate.

I've searched for a little while now and can't seen to find the pads by themselves

looks like i have to fork out some money for the rear break, and hopefully he will pay me back

i did get the tranny with the Center Diff and rear break for $35 bucks, I'm just pissed i have to now fork over $18 more bucks to get it working correctly

great thanks alot robmob. is that the break system from the jato?
they look like the ones i need. i would just have to buy two of them

Yes it is.

I got the part number off a parts list on the Revo 3.3.

Traxxas always uses parts from other trucks to save on parts.

Unfortunately, it makes it difficult to find the part you need if you don't have the part number.

i wish i could modify this rear brake system to accept the pads and rotors that they use on the regular brakes

The rear brake set up seems like it was an after thought and although it does help I think it could have been designed better.I was thinking of putting springs in between the disks to keep them from dragging on the pads. When you get to maximum rear brake adjustment they drag the pads.Even a smaller vented steel rotor and composit pads would have worked better I think.

I only run one pad on my rear brake anyway, just do away with one of the metal calipers, and sandwich your good pad between the other two. the key to the rear break working is having a servo with enough torque. And getting your throttle/brake linkage set correctly so they don't bind up.

You could also give this a shot: Integy CF Brake disk for jato

Normally I wouldn't be caught dead promoting anything integy... but a buddy of mine has their CF disks on his LST2 and they work really well and have held up for quite some time. You may be able to get away with just one disk like this as well.

i checked on this at tower hobbies and its not available till late january. so i think I'm going to get 2 of them from RCplanet. thanks for that link

heres the update from the guy who sent me the broke rear break. he said that i did put insurance on it so hes not responsible. his packing job consisted of 1 plastic freezer bag and 3 pieces of computer paper crumbled up. so i sent him an e mail saying that if he didnt pay me for the new pads i would ruin his e bay reputation by clearly stating how and why his bad packing job broke the rear break. i bought 4 items from him so thats 4 bad marks for him. lets see what he says to that =]
