Ok.. so I finally stopped sitting on my ass and reassembled my savage to finish breakin. But when I checked the temp after running up and down the street in 1/4-1/2 throttle intervals I only got a max temp at 156 F. I tried hitting it over half throttle but the end bogs down and it seems to drop rpm. Should I lean out the HSN a pinch? When it ran out of fuel also it was screaming...way loader then the full throttle attempt, should I worry or is it fine for the brief moment it leans out.

the average temp during that tank was about 130 F. I know I need atleast 200.

Yes, lean it out some until your temps are in the 200-220 range. Make sure you get good smoke at all times. If you lean it out so much that you do not get good smoke, richen it up until you do get good smoke and cover the heatsink with foil/paper/sock to bring the temps up.

It is advisable to not let your tank run completely dry. You are correct in assuming you are experiencing an excessively lean condition in doing so.

If it's that low, start leaning it out a couple hours at a time to get it around 200, then it shouldn't be bogging too bad.

I leaned it out about 3/4 turn (not all at once) today and changed the glowplug to an mc-8 since the stock one wasn't lighting up that great towared the bottom coils. But when I ran it it in the beginning when leaning it out, it would run for a while and just die... It would repeat dying the entire tank after maybe 5 min or run time. Any ideas? Anyway I quit at the end after the truck attempted to do a kamikazi run at wot towards the end. I dont know why.. had a failsafe and everything, but when I killed it and went to get it I turn the tx of and the car went WOT again... with the failsafe... which when I tested earlier by shutting off the tx applied brakes...

Temp is up a little more its about 175 F at idle. I'll lean it out some more when I have time.

Oh and this motor cools crazy fast... I took no more than two minutes to retrieve the car and check temp and it dropped down to 120F. I mean crap it cools before I can get it to BDC.

And is it ok to tune the car while its running?

What nitro percentage are you running? If you are using 20% I'd go with a MC-59.

Yeah I have 20% O'donnel. I didn't want to jump to a hot plug right away since the stock is a cold.

You should only tune the engine when it is at full running temp (above 200, or as hot as its gonna get if its way rich). I ran medium-cold plugs in my S-25 when I had it.
