Hey guys,

As some of you know I am ready to break in my HPI K4.6. I'm thinking of trying the Heat Cycle method. What do you guys think?

The heat cycle method sounds more fun, I hate watching an engine idle all day...:D

i did the heat cycle on my s.25 ....i dont know about it being more fun though it took a long time the method i read & did was put it on a block or stand and run it for 2- 3 minutes at a time making sure it gets above 190f then letting it cool to room temp at bdc the artical said to do this at least 10 times i did mine 12 times then drive in a oval pattern 4 tanks each at up to 1/4 throttle 4 tanks 1/2 ...than last 4 tanks 3/4 with some wot
took me 3/4 gallon and about a full day ........dont know if i would do it again on a engine thats only like $100....very time consuming

Hmmm, I read that you start it up and put it on the ground and drive it for 2-3 min, then let it cool. Repeat this about 7-10 times, then bump it up to 3-4 min. intervals. idk, maybe I'll just do the factory recomended method.

Thanks for the link, I think I'm just going to go with the factory method. Its worked well for me in the past so I'll try it again.

Breakin update:

Did another 3/4 tank (2 3/4 so far) until the spur stripped I was driving on snow, just a little left over from shoveling, so it wasn't even getting much grip. Anyway, it completely demolished a spur gear lol. I was afraid of usiing a platic with a .28, on my old savage I had a steel one. Anyway, I came prepared for this and I have 5 extra gears, 3 47ers and 2 49ers lol, so I'm all set but holy crap this engine is a beast The tuned pipe sounds very mean, similar to the ribbed pipe. When I change the gear I think I'm gunna try out the CVEC pipe and see how that goes.
